I have a site that has been ranking in the top 3 spots of G on a consistent basis for around 2-3 months. A couple of times in that time frame it will drop down to somewhere on page 2 for a few days - then after the G bot comes around again it will go back to the spot it was before. Does anyone have similar occurences? Any input/advice? Thanks |

Sounds like a mild case of the notorious "Google Dance" How old is your website

New sites get a boost to begin with so they can have a chance to get popular. Apparently (and don't quote me on this) I have heard that this lasts about 3-6 months and then you get your real ranking and people reffer to a big drop as being "sandboxed" (use search on this forum). This could be happening in your case but the fact you are only dropping to page 2 is a good sign for now if that is an indication of the true position after 5 months.
