I have received my first 2 adsense clicks over the last couple of days which i am very pleased about. But the predicted payment amount was only 5 pence for each click. It should be much higher than this. Anyone know why i would receive around 1/10th of the expected fee? |

The payment will be decided based on two things. One is how much advertiser paying and second one the area. The clicks must be in your near by area. That is why they paid very low.

Hi arshavin, Sounds like you may need to adjust your expectations a bit. What method did you use to arrive at your predicted EPC? One of the biggest factors influencing your EPC is your traffic source. Where does it come from and how well targeted is it? A close look there and you will likely discover the reason for your low EPC. |

I determine how much i should get by using the contextual keyword tool from google. I fix it to the usa cos thats where my clicks come from. It then gives me a price and i thought id get around 60% of that number?

Unfortunately its not as simple as looking at the cost of the click and receiving that each time you get a click. Sure its a good "measure" of what sort of $ you can make per click but there are a ton of different variables that go into it. For example - in a perfect world and assuming that your visitor is receiving a targeted advertisement based on your content/keyword research you'd earn only 60% of the advertised amount. Since its not a perfect world its impossible to know what sort of CPC you'll make. That's because Google offers targeted Ads based upon a users previous search intent. For example, assuming that your visitor recently searched for daily deals type of sites like GroupOn it may be that the visitor on your website will see a GroupOn advertisement even though you have a website about cheese. This is why its not possible to receive the CPC that you thought you may have. There are ton of variables that go into the ads that are displayed on your website. |

Hi arshavin, Those numbers are the top bids on the top pages of the best websites. If your webpage isn't in that group, you are going to receive considerably less. You know this is a competition, right? You need to establish your web pages as the best for the targeted keyword and then, and only then, will you receive your portion of the highest bids. The key to this is getting extremely targeted traffic and lots of it.

All the answers from all the contributors to this thread above are valid. However, another very important factor that I don't think was mentioned is that Google takes into account a visitor's intent/action when calculating your portion of the bid paid by an advertiser. If the visitor clicks on an ad but doesn't follow up with the action the advertiser wants/expects, Google will charge the advertiser less for the click and therefore your portion will also be reduced (this is known as "Smart Pricing" I believe). |

That's low, but not that low. I've gotten $0.00 for clicks before.

It depends on how well targeted those keywords are, if they are extremely well targeted keywords with a high degree of commercial intent, then yes, you will get those higher numbers, provided you also net good conversion results for your advertisers.

| I saw it happen like a week ago. I don't know if you can view historic data by date in Adsense. I don't play around with their data much. I'll go see if I can when I get home and take a screen shot if possible.

You get zero if it's an invalid click. Invalid clicks happen to everyone. You can never know if you have an invalid click unless you check your stats after every click. If you login and see 5 clicks for $10, you don't know if it was really 5 clicks or less that counted. It could have been 4 clicks for $10, 1 for zero. You can also get zero if it is a 1 cent ad. You won't see a penny until you get another 1 cent ad. They can't show .068 cents and I don't think they round up in that case. Paul |

To the OP, the reason you have only received 5 cent clicks could be due to a number of reasons such as what your niche is in, ad usage, and keyword selection. There are a number of ways you can improve on this.
