Buying Homepage Links?

I've just head about linkadage and decided to sign up and drop $100. I've head that homepage links can be powerful.

So far I've spent $50 on some PR7, PR5 and some low PR links with no more than 4 outbound links.

How do you feel homepage links work? Are they more powerful than forums, blog links?

Homepage links are good, but still only second to the mighty site wide link.

Be warned though, there are a number of things to consider when purchasing high PR text links:

- It probably won't do much for your SEO unless the links are placed on websites related to your target keywords.

- Some dodgy characters purchase expired domains with a high PR and try to flog as many text links as possible before Google removes the rank completely. Then you are left with a useless text link.

- You usually have to pay monthly, so when you stop paying, the links are gone and you might have nothing to show for it.

- Websites with too many outbound links won't give you much Google juice.

- Websites that are known to sell text links are sometimes blacklisted by Google, which dumps your website in hot water as well.


It's really difficult to say how powerful high PR homepage text links are compared to forum or blog links.

Heres how things stack up in my opinion:

Signature/forum links
Pros - Can drive some targeted traffic.
Cons - Probably won't do anything for seo (unless you post in a high PR thread in a related niche... which is rare).

Blog comment links
Pros - Can be pretty easy to find a high PR blog post in a related niche.
Cons - Very difficult to find 'do-follow' links or auto-accepted comments. Usually, only small traffic will come from a blog link.

High PR Homepage links/Sitewide links
Pros - Probably the best type of link, it should drive traffic/increase your pagerank/increase SERP's if the website is related.
Cons - Too many to mention really. If you don't own the high PR website, you can't be sure what you are getting yourself into.

I think you might be better off spending the money somewhere else. How about paid blog reviews? These would also create links but also a review of your product.

They are good but if you sign up for a network be sure to check the PR of the domains they are on. I was on a few networks and even though they were replacing dropped domains with newer ones at some point I ended up with over 70% of the domains which were PR3 and above were now all N/A's. I say they are good because it did raise the PR of my site which was registered this Feb. from a N/A to a PR3 in about 4 months.

1. Without a doubt homepage links work and work especially well when you pop them up on RELATED sites. High PR, Relevancy and low OBL? I'll take that link over ANYTHING else that doesn't have .edu or .gov as its extension.

2. Far more powerful than forum links, from an SEO perspective of course. FAR more powerful. Why do you think they are so pricey? Because they work. I'm not sure what you mean by blog links. Do you mean blog comment links? If so, then no doubt homepage links are far better.

There is simply NO better link than a high PageRank homepage link.

I've been doing SEO longer than most people have even been on the internet and there's one strong characterstic of all top rankings websites that are ranking for tough keywords. They have amazing backlinks, and often from high PR homepages.

To the guy that claimed that "relevance" is an issue with high PageRank homepage links. That couldn't be farther from the truth. If that were the truth, you wouldn't see the success of "paid links" campaigns with links from chinese/japenese and foreign link campaigns.

The fact is, high PageRank links are the single best links you can obtain as long as they aren't blatantly placed on the site and smacked between a viagra and gambling blogroll.

Although it's touted all the time, I doubt the validity of the need for "relevant content" on the pages where your links come from. Maybe in regard to CTR, but my experience has shown me nothing to indicate that it's a requirement for actual rankings help.

Anchor text still matters, obv.

make sure you get keyword anchor text and then get the link indexed. should be helpful.

I sell tons of links. Main page links are not as popular because there
is little content.

People want a contextual "ad." If you are not getting contextual, high
up, they are not worth it. Most people also don't care about "high" PR,
but some PR and relevancy. Relevancy seems to be king now.

And site wide links are now looked upon as spam.

I make more off of ads than adsense, and everyone to a man
(and woman) makes sure I do not put the ad global. They
are also very, very, very particular about the sentence and content
it is in.

The only global links you should have are internal.

If you want to sell ads, you have to be in high paying niches
that are very competitive. Don't contact people, they contact
you. Once a link seller contacts you, look for repeat business
from them. Others follow as well.
