I am ranked #2 on Google for a two-word keyword but only if I type it in as a phrase (in quotes, i.e. "red tomatoes"). I am not even in the top 100 if I type in the keyword combination without the quotes. I concluded that this is due to the fact that I don't have any backlinks to my site. So I started building them. I am building backlinks at the moment and I submitted my web site to about 10 blogs today. If we assume that those blogs are high-PR and very relevant to my site's content, how long will it take for Google to find out that those blogs are now linking to my site and eventually affect my site's ranking? Will this happen the next time Google crawls those blogs or does it take some extra calculating time too, etc? How often does Google crawl sites/blogs anyway? In brief: how long will it take for those backlinks that I just created to get me some SEO juice (if any)? PS: How safe it is to submit your site to more than 10 blogs each day? Is it safe to submit it to, say, 100 blogs? Thanks! |

You'll usually see immediate effects after a couple days. It could take several weeks or months to see the full effects, depending on how many and the type of links created.

Hey Bulldozer, I've heard mixed reviews on the amount of time that it takes for your site's backlinks to be updated but, in my experience it usually doesn't take any longer than a week. Just be patient and work on other aspects of your sites SEO while you're waiting. 95% of new internet marketers lose patience because they're not seeing results fast enough and just stop trying. This is the biggest mistake you could make, as long as you don't give up, you will make money eventually. To answer your other question, I'd say it's safe to submit your site to much more than 10 sites per day as I have done this and never seen any consequences. Hope this helps! |

Yeah, you can definitely do more than 10/day. I do several hundred a day, on average.

Great! What about backlink anchor text? For example: If I have to post a single link to 100 blogs/sites, do I have to come up with 100 different anchor texts for that same link? Or is it OK to use the same anchor text on all 100 blogs/sites? |

It actually depends but in most cases, you will get partial results in just a week or two. Building stronger backlinks even when it takes too much time is more effective and long term than doing it fast. | |

I believe Google in some way deliberately obfuscates/randomises ranking changes in order to make it more difficult for anyone to conduct testing and possibly reverse engineer the alogrithm in some way. Or maybe that is just a function of the complexity of the algorithm. Either way, there is no firm answer to your question, ranking changes can be quite sporadic. Success in SEO is usually the result of a sustained, consistent effort over weeks and months, and you have to take the long-term view and not get caught up in checking rankings after every link you build (yes, it's tempting, I know).
