Default Seeking advice on "related items" displayed on my site.

Hello All,

I have been reading this forum for awhile but this is my first post, so please tell me if my question belongs in a different category.

Can someone advise me as to whether a long list of related items on an item page will hurt, help or not effect that pages rank?

These "related items" started out small but as the content grew so did they. Each related item has a link to another product on the site which we originally thought was a good thing but now do to the size were not so sure.

Example link (I can't post a link yet, please use information below)

Go to : OfficeChairsOnSale.com

In the search box in the top left corner please type item number :

DC517V

Then click on the item and scroll towards the bottom until you see the "related items"

I appreciate any information you can throw my way.

Hmm. There is nothing to worry, yet you have to manage or integrate those related items in one broader category to where they belong. By this, your pages would have a friendly navigation which is better for crawling as well.

yep, related items is way to full and also not easy to read. I wouldn't even click on it.
also, when reviewing related items most of us will only click on a few and not much more.
the way it is displaying is not user friendly. is there a way to reorganize and only show a few related items per item. even build it to rotate the related items. also display the related items in an easier to read format. hope this helps you and good luck!

Thank you for your advice and reply, we know we need to do something about these. As long as they are not hurting us, we will try to figure out something. These were setup years ago in an older version of Yahoo store so I'm not yet sure how to correct.

Again thank you both for your replies and advice.

So, the best way is to have an on-page optimization of your website then.. Updating it will have an effect on the website ranking, but in the long run, if your team does a good job, it will surely rank well on SERPs in the future.
