You can buy a backlink packet from fiverr. It will give you a list of good edu and gov sites.

There is a spread sheet with some .edu and .gov sites that you should be able to post links to. I didn't check them out too close, so I will not guarantee that there isn't a few other types in the list. But they are just as good as .edu and .gov sites anyway.

I wouldn't put too much time and effort into hunting for .edu / .gov sources to drop your link. Unless your link is going to be in-content or featured on the homepage, I doubt there's much of a difference between .edu, .com, .net, etc.

Wow that's a great list!

I know you said that you haven't tested the links, but there are a lot of sites that belong to top Colleges and Universities, how would someone get a link from a website like that?
