I was just taking a look at the different ranking positions for my sites between Google.co.uk & Google.com when I noticed something that I've not yet seen in Google.co.uk. In Google.com there is a "Related searches for" section that appears above the fold. When you look at the search results for certain keywords you find that the organic search results are below the fold. A combination of Google Adds, Google shopping results & related searches completely hides any organic listings. If they add this "Related searches" to Google.co.uk I would expect to see a drop in traffic. I'm not complaining or anything as it's up to Google to do whatever they like with thier website but it just seems as the years go by Google seems to be crushing organic search results. Take a look at the screen shot below & you will see what I mean. |

Their need to make their quarterlies will drive Google to cannibalize itself. Somebody in another thread just stated that *nobody can touch Google* ... well, nobody needs to. Google is committing suicide by drowning itself drop by tiny drop.

They need to make money from ads. It is only natural. You would do the same if you were in their position. Most users however, can spot an ad from an organic result(Google has to be commended for making it easy to differentiate). It is unlikely that you will see a drop in traffic due to this. You can criticize Google all you want for their customer service... but one thing that has stood firm over the years has been their search result quality and that in my opinion can not be said of its rivals. |

Google's customer (the one they try to satisfy) is the browser. Not the webmaster. They take your listing and create a revenue stream out of it to satisfy their stock holders. You as the webmaster are way down at the bottom of the list of people they want to satisfy. You better get used to it.

| Sensationlist title, but at least Barry has a logical take, along with the sensation. Not many here do that. Google is experimenting with a lot. Or at least stuff that people seem to notice. Everything they do makes a splash. Like Tim Pears says, google owes no webmaster anything. It's the webmasters who allow google to run (ruin) their lives that scream like a chicken little. Google has made record profits. I can't see why people cannot grasp that. Google has much smarter engineers working for them than any of these webmasters who complain. If they were so great, the would be working for google. Microsoft tries. Tries hard. But they lose billion$. Yes that's billions with a capital B online. They can't turn a dime online. http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2011...ine-in-q4.html I'm waiting for someone to tout some crazy news story that says bing gives better results than google. Well, google must be laughing and taking that to the bank. http://www.pcworld.com/article/23803...cess_rate.html Silly google. They don't know what they are doing and will soon fail. Soon. Pretty soon.....I'm waiting... Paul |
