I have finally achieved the top 3 rankings on Google for my big keywords, and now I want to work on the long tail keywords to maximize traffic and exposure. Through my research and tools, I have shortlisted a good 50 long tail keywords I would like to optimize for my site. My goal is to achieve the first page rankings for these keywords. Currently all these keywords are at the second page listings at the very best. 1. I was thinking if I can update the website everyday, by posting blogs, with blog titles including the optimized keyword, also containing links to other blogs with anchor text to interlink the keywords, building more link juice. 2. I could also avail of other WFO offers of massive link building for them to optimize the 50 long tail keywords. I did however just availed of an offer, and my concern is any duplication of links on a given website (even with different anchor texts, but same website), may not be as effective, if worse, may sacrifice my achieved rankings for my top keywords. 3. I wanted to also appear when a person searches my competitors website or company on Google. This could be a strategy of capturing their potential customers. This would however require a different SEO linking/optimization strategy. What would you suggest on this one? From what I've researched, the power of long tail keywords is very strong. Although we have achieved a top position for our main keywords, being placed on the first page for 50 long tail keywords may generate more traffic than the bigger but fewer keywords. Thanks in advance to all that could contribute their ideas! |

What's the competition like for the Long Tail Keywords? If your already ranking on the second page, then you simply need to build a few backlinks to these and they should jump up. Bookmark the pages. 1 each day, they'll soon jump up.

Good to hear you've made it to the top 3 for your primary keywords. If you've already identified all your top secondary keywords, and they are mostly ranking on the second page, then all you really need to do is continue building quality links to the pages you're try to rank for. Leverage on-page interlinking as much as possible, but also make sure that you're getting a lot link diversity. And I can't emphasize this enough, but consistency is key. Keep building links with the right anchor text, and rotate them frequently, but make sure all your keywords are getting a consistent stream of links from diverse sites. 50 keywords is a lot, but you have to make sure they are all being optimized for. Because of the consistency, I've been able to rank for many long tail keywords for the same exact page in very competitive markets. It's amazing how much targeted traffic you can attract by the long tail. Optimizing for the long tail also indirectly optimizes the primary keywords, so you'll maintain and possibly even push up your primary keywords to #1. Good luck. |
