How Low Have You Gone And Made Profit?

What is the lowest searches-per-month web site that you have started and made decent profit (say, $50 per month) out of AdSense?
I know it all depends on the niche and the AdWords PPC but still: how low have you gone and made a profit?

That is a great question. I have avoided the low searches per month niches so I am really anxious to see some of the answers but for me - and assuming that you mean searches per month on the main keyword phrase - I had a site at about 5000 a month doing over $50....until it got slapped by Google in November, came back in february then Panda took it out again....probably for good. Not the best quality site

Anybody wiling to share some first-hand info?

@Thinking_man_too, did you get slapped because of black hat tactics or did Google just slap you for no reason?

I don't think I've ever made $50/month from a single keyword on Adsense. I find that affiliate programs with high payouts are best for low traffic keywords.

You have to remember that Searches Per Month/Visits Per Day is only half of the equation... Estimated Cost Per Click is the other half.

In my case, my worst performer is a site that only gets 5 or 10 visits a day, even though it ranks fairly for certain keywords in its niche, and pulls in a measly $10 or so a month. It's in a niche with a high-paying cost-per-click, so when I do get the rare click, its a good paying one.

I'd thought about selling/taking down this site in my frustration... we all build one that's a 'dud' from time to time... then the 'bigger picture' came to me.

If the site's making even 10 bucks a month, that's $120 per year.

I pay about $10 a year for the Domain Name. It's my only expense for the site, as I have multiple-website hosting already.

So... $10 expense for $120 revenue... I'd say that's about a 1100% (one thousand one hundred percent) Profit. And it's my WORST performer.

Try making a 1100% return in the Stock Market today (or any other way for that matter). And no one can say that this site won't begin to rank even better in the months/years to come, and pull in far greater return.

Bottom line: Don't be frightened to go after low traffic keywords, if the payout could be big due to high-paying advertisements, affiliate products, etc.

Reminds me of why I love internet marketing.

No black hat. I had two of my highest earning sites slapped.
I believe because they had to much verbage directly from amazon on amazon products I was listing.
Or maybe to many links for things to buy on a a given page.

That is all I can guess. There was nothing else "Bad" about the sites. But we all know google is favoring sites with good unique content.

both these sites still have pages ranked, just not in the first 5 or 10 pages of the SERP so they are not banned just slapped.

That'd do it. Always make sure your site passes copyscape. Google hates duplicate content.
