Default For SEO Pros Only

I have a question. Let's say I am starting a new website and begin SEO with article marketing. Let's say I am optimizing my website for keyword - New York Dog Training.

I write 3 articles and publish in Ezine and some other directories. Articles are keyword optimized - New York Dog Training in the title, fist paragraph, bold, appears ever 100 words...etc.

Now my question is this - since my site is brand new, wouldn't my articles outrank my website for this term?

My thinking is the following: since Ezine is much higher page rank than my site, the PR will filter out faster to my ezine article than to my website.

Am I correct in my assumption or this is not the case? Maybe I need to post keyword optimized article in my blog and post generic article on Ezine and other directories?

Also when I start generating back links to the article (not to the site) to get juicier links, I am running even a higher risk for the article to outrank the site.

What is the strategy here?

In theory, you are probably correct.

What I would do is write articles for directories that you don't put on your own site, focusing on related, secondary keywords.

If your site is:
New York Dog Training

I'd write articles for EZA using secondary keywords such as:
Manhattan Poodle Obedience

Note that New York is "bigger" than Manhattan, Dog is "bigger" than "poodle" and "training" is "bigger" than "obedience". By "bigger", I'm referring in general to the size of the niche/topic and number of searches for each word.

After reading countless posts on this discussion. Warriors with expertise in this area have stated that before publishing your articles to the article directories, you should publish them on your site first and have them indexed. Only then should you publish to the article directory. There's a few of these threads in the main forum recently. Have a look and get all the info you need in regards to your other questions.

And another point of view is NEVER post the same article on your own site that you post on other sites and use your primary keywords for your own content and secondary kewords for articles you post on other sites.

Let me add...If you're offering something like dog training or plumbing services, articles probably shouldn't be your main focus.

IMO, your focus should be on learning strategies for Google Maps and Google Places and do the opposite of what I suggeted above for some articles. Write GENERAL plumbing tips articles with anchor text relevant to your location for plumbing services. But spend most of your time getting "citations" instead of article marketing.

Thanks..what I am thinking of doing is posting keyword optimized article on blog, then to top 5 article directories, spinning them and to second layer of directories blast with article directory as an anchor text.

Basically, citations are "reviews" about a local company on sites Google checks and using in their local rankings.

Eziene after panda will not out rank your site, as long as you publish article first on your web site.
Strategy that I use:
1. Put article on my web site
2. Once indexed by google submit it to article directories, same article no spinning
3. Once published on article directories, spam it with AMR, UAW
4. Get links from AMR, UAW put them through indexing services on dripping interval

However if your domain is new prepare yourself for 3 to 6 month google dance.

It takes time and effort. No easy and fast way here, but it works.

I was wondering if you can give me some direction on a website I'm trying to rank. My competitors are pretty weak which our site is strong. I use SEOMOZ to gather data and all indicators say that our site should outrank competitors.
