Default Does Google somehow credit a text URL without an actual link in it?

For example:
"My opinion on this subject is somewhat limited. However after researching I found this page; http://www.sample.com/testing/ and it really educated me."

So there's no actual link in the above phrase but there is a URL (again the URL is not clickable).

Does Google somehow give credit to the sample site if the topic on the page was of the same relevance?

Confused?

Thanks,

Gil

I doubt google gives a plain text link any consideration. It would have to be the real thing.

I don't think G gives credit for a link without it being clickable. On the other hand, I do believe they treat urls like other keywords. So that unlinked url mention would give at least some limited benefit, either as an exact match keyword or as an LSI term associated with the subject of the content being spidered.

I believe Google may count this, but far from being sure. I thought Google had a name for these, but I can't remember...I want to say "citation", but don't think that's it.

Google indexes many document types and not all allow for clickable links, so it may make sense to count unclickable URLs in some fashion.

Guys,

Actually I've seen Google give credit for urls mentioned in content that are not hyper linked at all. Like this, If you want to learn how to start an online business the http://warriorforum.com is one of the best places to start.

I've seen Google pick that up and count it as a back link in many many cases.

PS: Of course the forum parsed the url i typed in and turned it into a hyper link! arg!

Thanks Rus...This is my understanding as well. I wish I could remember what Google calls it, but I do believe they have a definition for it.

The reason I ask is because to get the most powerful backlinks possible for a specific keyword you go for the top 10-20 even search results and scour the each ranked site for a possible place to add a link. Especially the specific page that's ranked.

In this particular niche most sites don't allow comments but there are a few authority (High PR) sites that you can leave a comment. And I've presented the comment (with the unclickable url) that will both benefit their site and mine hopefully the link will stick.

I'll see what happens with my SERP for this keyword phrase.

They are called citations.

I have not known Google a plain text link to work like an actual one, it would have to be clickable to have any worth as a link or anchor text. Plain links that are text only are not very "in".

Yes, you receive credit. Have a citation in wall street or a major newspaper, and your serp will skyrocket, even if they do not give you hyperlink on the url, just simple test.

Also xrumer blasts with text instead of hyperlinks done by bh-tters proved that google credits those url. Try to look up some experiments , probably you are not gonna find them on the open web, though.

Yes, the text [citation] works wonders.... Try a few backlinks with these and You will realize the power of these..
In a few .edu websites, there have been instances where this has worked wonders for me..
