Blogger vs wordpress

This might be controversial but I am just wondering about your opinion, wordpress seems better to me although currently I use blogger. I think because most people say it has more features, is that true? If so please tell me your opinion on this, is blogger or wordpress better in your opinion and tell me why?

For my website, I use wordpress. There's so much customisation, it's unreal. If you're proficient with CSS/HTML, you can create almost anything you want for WP to edit your site. I'm currently into copywriting/content writing, so it's ideal for me, but Im going into web design/graphic design, so it's invaluable for me to know WP anyway.

I'd definitely choose WP over Blogger any day, to sum it up!

Blogger before I know about wordpress. There are so many options and functions in WordPress, which is more organized and flexible. You can choose how to organize your blog and it is easier to control things.

Personally I think Wordpress is incomparably better (and I'm not even a regular Wordpress user, myself), but it doesn't really matter all that much which is "better", Buddha, because for internet marketers Blogger isn't safe to use.

And anyone who actually reads the threads like that all the way through, I imagine, is highly likely to change their mind about using Blogger, and thereby reduce the regular occurrence of all the other threads like this one.

Wordpress gets my vote too. WP does have quality and features. Blogger is an unchartered area with many accounts abusing the right of free blog hosting. Imagine that i do say good things for WP even they disabled my account when i tried to use the service for SEO purposes only

wp.COM is like blogger (in many regards): a platform maintained by them where you can create a free blog on a subdomain: whatever.wordpress.com - in other words, you do NOT own the site.

wp.ORG is the place where you downloaded the free CMS script to be installed on your own domain/hosting.

Wordpress.com is free hosting for (a very limited range of) Wordpress blogs, for hobby bloggers only: absolutely nothing monetized is allowed there at all, and they're ruthless at removing on site anything they think may have commercial intentions or is being used to generate traffic to other sites. If you are serious about going places online, I would advise you use wordpress WP. It will help improve your learning curve and it sort of has a larger support community than blogger.

Go for wordpress.org.

Seriously, it's a very good habit to cultivate: always read carefully the terms of service before posting anything on or submitting anything to any site you don't own yourself.

Self-hosted Wordpress (which I think is what you might want to be using?) is made with software uploaded from wordpress.org.

If money's an issue, there are places where you can host it free. Byethost.com is a well-established, professional host where many internet marketers use the free hosting for their Wordpress blogs. It doesn't have "C-Panel".

The terms of service and their enforcement. Anything that might be considered "internet marketing" of any kind is excluded. They're also more consistent at enforcing that than Blogger is. Blogger is notoriously inconsistent and idiosyncratic in approach, and the terms of service require more "interpretation", too. Blogger does have its uses. I've run across a technique for physical products that uses blogger. Because blogger is owned by google, it "likes" it, and with the blog name being part of the URL, it does well in SEO. BUT, you have to know what you're doing.

WP.com is worthless for monetization as pointed out above, so from an IM point of view, don't bother with it. If you just want to talk about your hobby, or post about last night's party, they're great.

I have a number of WP blogs installed on my site, and one of the things I like about them is their versatility due to plugins. (If you don't know, plugins are a sub-program that add to the functionality of the WP blog)

I thought sites like blogger and wordpress can be used for Internet marketing. Now I know that wordpress are strict and they will ban you for Internet marketing. Blogger can be used to sell your products for all I know but about affiliate links, I am not too sure since I am not to sure whether generating traffic for other site means no affiliate. Free hosting with built-in software (not suitable for Wordpress blogs): Weebly, Yola, Blinkweb (there may be others, too - these are the well-known, well-established, "safe" ones).

Free hosting for whatever you want (including Wordpress blogs): Byethost (very well-established, professional, recommended, but no C-Panel), 000webhost (there'll definitely be many others, too, but read their terms of service very carefully before trying them, these are collectively certainly not as "safe" or reliable as places like Weebly, mentioned above).

You can still get free domains from .tk, I think. Whether you'd want to use one is another matter. You can buy a perfectly good .info domain-name for $1 from GoDaddy, and I recommend that, if cost's an issue. It's much more professional-looking (and maybe easier to rank) than a ".tk" one.

I purchased a domain and shifted it to byethost free hosting, But the problem is I don't know how to install wordpress as byethost does not have a Cpanel as Alexa said here .

I did read the instructions on wordpress dot org regarding installation but didn't understand a thing Duh ! Purchasing a hosting is out of questions as I cannot pay for it. My paypal is limited and I don't have a credit card :|.

What possible things can I do now ?

People, who were serious about setting up their web presence were installing scripts (including WordPress) even before cPanel has been invented...

Except the one-click gizmos, which are never as safe and controllable as the manual install - the process is always the same:
- download the wordpress package from wp.org
- unzip it on your machine
- create the database from your site's administration interface (cPanel or not, there is ALWAYS such an option to create a new database)
- write down the database name, user, pw, location (usually: localhost)
- edit the wp-config.php file with the data above
- upload the content of the WP package via FTP to your host (not the /wordpress/ folder, just what's in it)
- run the installation

There are tons of detailed instructions how to do it; there are zillions of free videos on YT and all around the web.
Do your homework: search, read, watch, learn. Then do it.

Nobody was born knowing all that stuff - we all went through the learning process. So should you, if you are taking seriously your IM "adventure".
(With my very first MySQL database driven script installation I was up whole night because I forgot to add privileges to the database user and for many hours I couldn't figure out why it didn't work )

Blogger is easy to use and Google loves it, of course, it owns it. Although it is free and easy it is not the way to go if you are serious about your business. You get what you pay for, as the saying goes. Same goes for wordpress.com. They are remotely hosted and you don't own the domain. You are just renting space. Your site could be here today and gone tomorrow, with the least provocation.

With wordpress.org your site is on your own domain. Your piece of real estate. With some free beautiful themes you can create something to be proud of.

I have already done the first 2 steps mentioned by you but was sceptical doing the rest of steps hence did not go ahead yet. A friend told me to wait for 2-3 days and he is trying to do something which he hasn't succeeded in yet . If he doesn't succeed in doing it, I will try to follow the steps you outlined here whatever be the end result :|.

I Don't understand anything from videos on YT as I have a hard time understanding the accent . Yes Reading is what I am always hooked to, but that does not always help unless you have a mentor. This is for people like me, everyone is wired differently .

hehehehe I can imagine the horror when some silly mistakes takes a bomb of time in rectification process. Your experience was indeed Funny . Thanks for sharing it here, May be the same mistake might teach me the basics of MySql and .Php.

I prefer wordpress to blogger! I love worpress's flexibility of customization. Most serious professinals will tell you that worpress is the way to go, using blogger may even hurt your credibility!

There are a lot of reasons to host your blog on your own web site using WordPress. As a computer security professional, the simple fact that you have control over your content tends to jump out from the rest.

Hosting it on Blogger or WordPress.com could result in the blog being deleted by them and you may never discover the reason. Not a "knock" against them; it's just better to keep as much under your control as possible.

You can always host your site on Blogger with your own domain name and that gets rid of the problem of blogger shutting you down and taking your url with it. But the nice thing about Wordpress (the self hosted program) is that it is very customizable. Blogger is much much better because you can use afilliate ads such as adsense and any other code you wish
Worpress cuts your hands and feet off.
The platform for wordpress is good but ten times more limited than worpress installed on your own site
Blogger no longer allows ftp hosting on your own domain thats the main disadvantage

but in wordpress free hosted you wont be able to insert java, iframes or any kind os ad networks and if you manage to they will ban you and steal your site from you if you make a mistake.. dont do it

blogger posts allow you to insert any code you want
i make about 150 bucks a ,month on adsense just from a few niche blogger blogs

Also it is great for making 5 page sites and use the first and only blog post as first landing page..
blogger being property og google inc.. lets any blogs you make go straight into the google directory and get found

i sell thai amulets on one of my websie online stores, but for each major kind of amulet that has many monthly world searches, i make a blog with blogspot using that keyword search as the blog name
for example there is an amulet called Kumarn Tong
i sell Kumarn Tong amulets on my store, but in fact, my kumarntong.blogspot dot com 3 page site with one blog post sayiing 'kuman tong amulets anbd a few more words' and then the store script inserted, sells me about 4 amulets a month

i have many blogspot blogs which bgenerate and catch customers for me
i use ecwid online store, which differs from other software because instead of installing a e-commerce software on my server, i do it all on ecwid server and i have acode snippet which is my store front display. I can take that snippet of code as a widget and insert it into facebook, myspace and blogspot or anywhere i wish
this means i have about 20 stores but dont have to log into 20 different websites to check my sales, and dont have to spliut the stock between each store.. its all the same interface
blogger allows me to insert the script. wordpress does not

really? that means you dont know how to design a template then. because blogger can have any look and feel you wish the template and css is editable and customizable

wordpress lets you configure almost everything u csn think of and whats more important you do not depend on big G - u host it yourself.
