Default Redirect domain, pros and cons

Hi All'

I am just wondering what the pros and sons are if I redirect a domain to another of my sites.

When I redirect a domain/ site will all traffic that goes to that site be redirected, or simply just the traffic to the index, or home page of the site?

Do you get penalized or lose rankings if you have redirected your site?

Default Re: Redirect domain, pros and cons

A redirect is usually used to prevent the losing of rankings and search engine status. A redirect tells the search engine that the page that was supposed to be here has moved to another location and so the crawler will just over go and crawl it. After this crawl the new page will start showing in the SERPs, so I don't see any harm.
