I have a niche im about to go after cuz its something i have a passion for. Its going to be mainly monetized with amazon associates. I want to place the amazon products at the top of each post but i think that might not look to good to google while trying to rank so im wondering what everyones thoughts are. Should i wait till after i reach number one to place the amazon plugins? |

Why would you think that? Complete nonsense. Google evens partners up with amazon on their blogspot. What if you never get to number one? You are going to miss out on sales and cash? Paul |

| Well i know googles bots only read so much of each page, so i thought by placing the plugin first they might not pick up all the keywords in my post. So i was going to place the plugin after each post until i reach my desired serps?

Well, either way it is better for you to rank the site with the amazon plugin turned on rather than wait for the first position and then install it. It should be completely safe to install them, but just make them natural so that the user experience remains the same, otherwise you'll get indeed punished by Google.

![]() It was true a decade ago (but even then they'd easily get through 5,000+ words per page), but now Google read all of a page.

Google does need to read all the page. What is your meta description? What is your title? What are your bolded words and <h1> headings? Google is not going to read the garbled amazon affiliate code for content no more than they are going to read the adsense code. (well, in rare cases it does do something, but not relevant here) If you have a 5,000 word page, that my friend, is not a page that's optimized for adsense. If adsense is your main revenue source, that is. Paul |

Wahid you are sure on a roll with nonsense answers. Maybe you didn't know that google partners with amazon? Besides, we're not talking about affiliate sites. I think the web garage is full of clunkers. In another thread you claim you can't add adsense to a site with less than 10 pages. I don't know where your web garage is, but man it must be out there. Get a grip people. Just filling the forum with crapola answers is not cool. Paul

| Agreed. While you are aiming for the number one ranking, while you are building backlinks, you are already getting traffic, which you can monetize already. If you wait until you get your site to the top spot, then you already have wasted a lot of potential conversion.

| OP, If your running Amazon widgets chances are it's javascript or flash, which I doubt Google is reading (unless it's hooked to an xml file, & I doubt it is). They will read any direct hyperlink you create pointing at Amazon. I would add the affliate code as soon as your page has content. An easy way to find out how Google is looking at your web page is to look at the same pages Google Cache (text only version). Here is the Google cache for one of the links in your sig. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:www.chunkyknitcardigan.com/&hl=en&strip=1 |
