Default Ranking #1 in Google, but still low traffic

Quote:
Hello everyone! I'm new here and grateful this site exists!

I'm hoping someone will be willing to give me some advice about my web site, Wacom Tablet Reviews & Opinions. I am ranked #1 in Google for my keyword "wacom tablet reviews" and have been for the past 3-4 months. The problem is that I still only average about 30 - 50 visits per day and earn approximately $20 - $50(rarely) per month through Amazon.

I started the site in March 2011 and have been adding posts slowly over time. I've been adding a new post everyday since July, but sometimes do it every other day instead. I also use Ping Kaching regularly.

I hope someone can help me figure out what I'm missing or if I just need more time? I've seen some people say you should start to see good results after 7-8 weeks. So should I be seeing more visits/revenue by now?

Thank you for your time and I greatly appreciate anyone who is willing to offer advice!
Jenn
UPDATE: Thank you to everyone for the great advice and ideas! I hope I didn't come across as bragging or gloating. I didn't mean to if I did.

I will be focusing on other keywords as well from this point on. The way I got backlinks with "wacom tablet reviews" and 4 other keywords was manually and with BacklinkPhillipines.
I assume that I need to do the same thing with new keywords, but I want to make sure from all you pros if that's really the right way to go about it.

Thank you all again!
Jenn

woo hoo you made #1, now gun for another #1 with a different keyword and continue. so if you have 1 keyword making you $50 a month imagine have 10 keywords. thats $500 a month etc... maybe also trying to find a buying keyword. a keyword where people are looking to purchase.. goodluck

yes, I agree. Now go for: WACOM REVIEWS and WACOM TABLET DISCUSSION and WACOM TABLET FORUM and WACOM TABLET, which will probably be tougher than the others, but if you're anywhere on page one for WACOM TABLET, that could be a lot of eyeballs. also go for: PEN TABLET REVIEWS and DATA PAD, DATA PAD REVIEWS. Have you done a thorough keyword study? Make a list of 1000 keywords, then choose your top keywords to work on. Some will be low hanging fruit like the one you got, while others like WACOM TABLET might take some time.

It only gets 390 searches a month. What did you expect? Like the others said, move on and target some more highly searched for terms.

Hi Jenn,

Congrats on making it to number 1! You should be glad you made it while tons of others are still struggling to hit the top.

If your chosen keyword gets a tiny amount of traffic every month, it shouldn't be a surprise your site is getting low traffic.

Just scale everything up by optimizing your site for more buyer keywords and replicate what you did with your main keyword so they eventually rank high in the SERPs. That way, you get to capture more traffic/site visitors from the additional keywords you will be optimizing your site for.

Keep working and moving forward! Good job!

Oh, you can use that $20-$50 you earn from Amazon every month to re-invest on your site with your on-going SEO activities. Previously, you didn't have that $20-$50; now, you have something to invest back to your site. Ain't that cool?

You are not no.1, I have done the search right now, you are no.4 .
Exact searches for this keyword phrase is 390 a month, that means you have very low number of visitors.
There's no need for congratulations for no. 1 (in fact you are no. 4 with yours website), because there is no exact match domains besides yours, and the competition is very low for this phrase , allintitle shows 10.500 results...

As for me, this isn't success at all...

You need to broaden your search term and try to rank for higher for some other generic highly searched for terms as well.

As said by the previous posters, you got your number 1. for 1st keyword, it is time to scale - rinse and repeat. Only way to succeed in the IM world.

Expand the site targeting additional keywords related to your main keyphrase. Get those pages ranked and you should start seeing more traffic.

You might want to think about how much effort you want to put into a site with copyright infringing domain name like that.

As already stated, you are getting the expected amount of traffic for ranking #1 for "wacom tablet reviews".

However, you should put some real effort into "wacom tablet" as that gets 40,500 exact monthly searches are you are currently ranked #19 for that keyword phrase.

If you can get onto page 1 for 'wacom tablet', you'll certainly see plenty of traffic come your way.

I actually think 20-50 is good for only 450 exact searches a month. Like another poster said, do that 10 mores times. Or move on to more competitive keywords.

Your traffic does seem too off considering the keyword.

Hi Morganomega,
Thank you for the advice and additional keyword suggestions! I think I got tunnel vision on "wacom tablet reviews". I have also just been focusing on "wacom bamboo", "wacom Intuos4" and "wacom cintiq".

I appreciate your help!

As Matt Ward said, be careful with the domain...might want to create another in case that one is forced to shut suddenly.
