Best way I saw was to make a fan page or group page, then put a widget on your site. Post often to it and invite your friends to it. Once it grows you'll start seeing traffic.

The other way is to do Facebook connect and allow people to join with the click of a facebook button. For some reason this will increase traffic to your site by like 50%

And of course just add "like" buttons to your posts

Facebook is better than twitter, I personally get more traffic from Facebook.

is not about Twitter vs Facebook for traffic... is about Twitter with FB ..try to combine Twitter with FB and you'll make a killing !

In my opinion I've had much more success with Twitter for direct traffic but rather I like to admit it or not, Facebook has the best way to connect your site for apps, api, etc.. I wish Facebook just wasn't so damn strict... they need to loosen up like Twitter...
