Which of these two gives you the most traffic for your site? In my opinion I've had much more success with Twitter for direct traffic but rather I like to admit it or not, Facebook has the best way to connect your site for apps, api, etc.. I wish Facebook just wasn't so damn strict... they need to loosen up like Twitter... |

I would have to go with Twitter, though I think FB has equally the potential to do good in terms of traffic. I just haven't given it enough time. I would say any successful IM'er should make use of them both equally well for the best results.

Once i learnt how to use fb properly for marketing it produces way more traffic " for me at least" than twitter, the trick is to give some value , add something to conversations, rather than out and out pitching. Good Luck

I use both Facebook and Twitter, however Facebook referrals are greater than Twitter for me personally, but only slightly greater. But because I use the SU.PR tool on stumble to share content via Twitter and Facebook the referral traffic from Stumbleupon is 3 times the amount I get from Facebook and Twitter directly. I do believe that if I were to use Twitter without the SU.PR tool it would easily tower over Facebook.

I think twitter is better for marketing, but if you want to reach people, then its facebook. Facebook is more personal while twitter is widely and obviously used by companies and people to promote things.

Facebook works very well due to the large amount of traffic they have and if you're a smart marketer you can take advantage of it. I mean the targeting on facebook is wayy better than twitter imo.. Although fb is strict there is less competition lol | |

I used to get tons of traffic from Twitter. However, it has been dwindling a little bit over the past few months, and I would say that the traffic is about equal at this time.

For traffic...Twitter indeed brings in more because of the ability to 're-tweet'. But for visibility and branding Facebook would be good. |

Though the two provides tons of traffic, personally, I get more from Facebook than Tweeter. Aside from I have more friends in Facebook than Tweeter, Facebook provides visibility since you can post and present your products in the site and your friends will likely to see them and likes them. Most of the people I know always tells me that Tweeter is more reliable in marketing, but I haven't tried had the result that most of them had stated. Still, I prefer Facebook for more traffic. |

FB is obviously more expensive. Twitter just seems like a spam fest. What are your favorite ways to use Twitter? Have you done sponsored tweets, etc?

I think Twitter drives traffic well to blogs and news related sites. For a more traditional ecommerce play, Facebook is going to bring more sales. I think the big problem for small business on Twitter, is finding people interested in their niche. If you can help small business to do that, you're likely to gain a few hundred dollars per month, per client for little to no work on a daily basis. |

I think Twitter is better for new, unaffiliated traffic, whereas Facebook is more targeted...and useful for maintaining brand loyalty.

The scenario is like this. Of the 1000 common net users Facebook is used by at least 80% where as 20% uses only Twitter. So, I always see my sites get enough LIKES rather than having Twitter Followers.

For those that are saying Facebook... how would you start from scratch? Just join related groups/fan pages and start adding people? I'm trying to find the best strategy to utilize facebook. I got my Twitter system down.
