I've been wanting to tackle this keyword because I'm into dolls...but from my analysis it looks really hard...do you think I have a chance on this one - .

What makes you believe this is a competitive keyword to rank for? Also are you doing this for adsense?

Based on what I've seen, this keyword doesn't seem very difficult to rank for. The first ranked page for that keyword phrase only has about 7 links to it. Haven't specially checked the backlinks for anchor text, but this enough should indicate the relative strength of the competition. Also, most of the pages on the first page aren't probably optimized on-page either.

Remember to look at exact match if you're using the Google Keyword Tool. This keyword phrase receives around 4400 searches per month, so if you were to be ranked #1 for this keyword in Google, expect to receive around 35-40% based on my experience (so approx 1760 visitors per month). See if it makes sense for you to optimize for based on what you're trying to achieve with SEO.

What are the PR ranks for the other competing sites?

How much content and back links do you have going for you for that keyword ?

This is easy word to rank for. Especially because there is no EDM in first 10 results. No matter about links and domain age of the competition, if you get 18inchdollclothes.com, you will be 1st in Google easily. But you can't because this domain is already taken... You can go for .info, .me, or .ws .

I didn't see high PR, other than one PR4. The others are PR3 and below. When I put this through Traffic Travis, I get a lot of red x's (which is good). So I think you could get on the first page with a little work. The number two spot, and the number four spot look like the easiest targets to displace. It will take a little work, but I don't think it should be too hard.

Nobody does a Google search with quotes.

OP, Go after long tail variations of the target keyword phrase, & work backwards towards the main keyword. This will help build authority in your sites pages with keyword anchor-text, page titles, URLs, etc...
