Default New website - old domain. Suggestions ?

Hey all,

Just wanted to get your thoughts on the Do's and Dont's of SEO for a new website on an old domain. I'm in the process of completing the design of a website and the domain was purchased by the company back in 2000, where it sat with not much on it, with no SEO, on page or off, efforts at all.

Are there any special rules I should consider before I begin the optimization process? For example, should I only be trying to obtain a certain number of backlinks initially? Or writing and submitting a certain number of articles, or generating a certain number of SBM's? I'd hate to get slapped right away by heavily implementing SEO.

Thanks for the kind replies.

When you start SEO for a new site, the site is initially at the bottom
of the list, and there is not more slap than that to be made.

Is there any darker color than black available?

Does the site have any backlinks? if so, then you can be a little more aggressive with the link building.

I was referring to off-page SEO efforts. I don't want to generate tons of backlinks right away and have Google see that as a no-no. I'm just wondering if there's a "safe zone" so to speak when do initial off-page SEO on a new website.

Not many, and by not many I mean 5. Yes, 5 total.

Unfortunately no one can answer this question with enough certainity and
all what you get as an answer are pure based on assupmtions
and inaccurate people experience.

Search engine's algorithms are going forward like all other things in the
world. An exact studying of search engines needs fixed conditions in
duration of testing. And this is the point that made all the attempting
on search engine studying difficult to implement.

An answer to your question today, may not work in future and vice versa.

I forgot to mention that SEO has risk. When you decide to use it,
you have to accept both sides of its coin.
