My site has roughly 100,000 urls. When my developer added the xml sitemap he only added 1 sitemap. I have never had a problem with Google crawling or indexing the site until recently. I have read that Google can only crawl up to 50,000 urls within a single sitemap. My developer did not create a second sitemap however in Webmaster Tools it shows a second page to the sitemap and this page is failing with the big red X. We are having trouble getting new content indexed and I am wondering if it is because of this second page? The site is developed in Drupal, would it automatically create a second page or did Google do this in an attempt to reach the remaining urls? Do i have to manually create a second sitemap? And will the sitemap alone keep new content from being indexed? Any and ALL help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank YOU!
