Newbie Need Help With Market samurai

Hi There I am a newbie so tell me off if i am posting in the wrong section

.Great Site by the way have been doing a lot of reading through and found a lot of great information.

This is what im struggling to understand.I Type the keyword engagement gift ideas for example into market samurai and i hit the seo competion button.That goes fine.Now there's a website that says its position 3 but when i type the keywork in google it comes up with different results and is showing it as position one.Also some sites showing on market samurai are not even on the first page of google or even the second??

I Don't no how i can analyze the competition properly if the results are wrong? Please could someone help me understand?

Thank you My first thread reply! So would it be because i"m in the UK and Market Samurai shows dollars so maybe its set to USA.How do i set it write for London To?

Also My last Confusion for today.Market Samurai shows a website as having 5120 BLP (back links right)but yet when i type it in on yahoo site explorer it come up with 175! And even worse when i type it in Alexa It come up 28!!

To chime in, I travel alot and to get pure US Google I type google.com/ncr which is "No Country Redirect" and it takes me to Google US.

if anything this many backlinks is a good thing - since there is no single "most complete" backlink source (other than search engines, which are not interested in disclosing this kind of info in full), your best bet is to get tools that rely on many different sources to get backlink data.

seospyglass collects backlinks from an aggregate of like 4 hundred search engines and mines quite a few links that way, twice as many as MS does, actually, according to the recent study.

so don't worry, if you are getting thousands of backlinks for a pretty well ranked site, this is probably more accurate than the mere 28 or 175, which are likely a small part of a bigger story. so get tools that tell you that backlink story in the most complete way possible.

i think that market samurai uses the google's USA database (correct me if i am wrong)

i am not aware where u are from, so i guess u are not from usa.

what u can do is, do an analysis in market samurai and then go to....

www . google . com / ncr

then do a search on google for the same keyword. then see if the results match to each other.

hope this helps with your problem. just my idea.

google.com/ncr still wouldn't work as intended for a US citizen. And yes, MS delivers result based on US location. If you still want to check your rankings as they would originally appear in the US, you can use pagewash.com, US proxy site.

MS is using Google's data so if the settings are the same the results should be about the same. The reason I say about the same is that I think MS is slightly behind Google's data. As for the backlinks MS switched to Majestic SEO a few months back and by default that's what I think you're seeing, you can switch it to Yahoo, but there going to be dropping it (Yahoo will so it's probably not being updated as often). That's why MS added Majestic SEO and it's probably more accurate anyway, and MS is probably a little bit delayed in those results as well, Yahoo and Google has to make it available first before MS can grab it.

Yeah and like mentioned already log out of your Google account in your browser before doing a search or Google will give you your preferences. MS uses proxies so even if you're using your Adwords account it shouldn't skew the results.
