Spyfu for Adsense Results

I have been noticing if I check my keywords in spufu, I often get zero ads. I'm talking long tail versions of common terms.
But, if I put the same word in google, I get plenty of ads. Now, I understand google will serve related ads, but do you go for the keyword for an adsense site if no one is bidding on it, but plenty of ads are actually being served?

Or do you use spyfu by cutting out the main term from the long-tail?
