Hey guys so i have a new website and i NEED to make this successful - after ploughing around $1k into making the site and adding design and features and basic on page SEO - i know am ready to start getting serious with it! I have some traffic but nothing much and nothing really from google! So i have around another $1k to spend on branding and marketing the site i was advised on here to spend it on SEO - but that is VERY broad - what exactly can i do with my money to get the best results long and short term? |

It sounds like you have some general knowledge. Have you taken a look at the competition yourself so far? Is it tough or mild?

Best way to get traffic is not spending amount to get hire seo experts . My suggestion is learn seo techniques and do it yourself . If you make a website then it is not for 6 months or 1 year am I right? Learn seo and save your much money .

oh my gosh thats a lot of money on one website. You could buy a whole load of really good quality unique articles and then maybe outsource the backlinking

It will also save you money to become a doctor yourself rather than spending money to see a doctor. So go do that too. Also learn all the ins and outs of criminal, civil, and estate law. Take the board exam and become a lawyer. That way you will never need to pay a lawyer too. If you really want to learn SEO, that is fine. However, it takes time, lots of it. You won't be an SEO expert in 6 months, probably not even a year. If I could go back 10 years ago when I started online, the one thing I would do differently is pay someone to have done my SEO. I would have started making money a lot sooner by finding someone that knew what they were doing instead of trying to fumble through it myself. To the OP, I would say find someone who wants to build a relationship with you and your business. There are lots of people claiming to be "SEO's" but all they are doing is selling a once-and-done product like a linkwheel or blog network. Stay away from them. Find someone who will take the time to understand your business, uncover the keywords that make sense for your business and will bring you the traffic you need, and develop a plan to attack those keywords. I kind of relate it to the financial planning industry. There are lots of insurance agents claiming to be financial planners. However, all they do is sell one product, insurance. A real financial planner or advisor has the ability to develop a comprehensive plan to help you reach your financial objectives and is not limited to one or two products to reach those goals. Just my $.02

Best advice is to shop around for a bit and don't get too over excited with all the offers you see. Essentially you want to get a collection of different types of links from high PageRank domains. In general, don't spend too much time getting forum profiles, a few are ok. Spend most of your budget on acquiring permanent links from high pagerank domains. |

Start first by building a diversified link profile, this will prevent your site from dancing in the serps, then you can drip feed some authority links in for your target keywords, but what ever you do, don't buy a 2000 link profile blast from fiverr or any place like that for a new site, you will spring around the top 30 pages for weeks. Focus on quality from the start and you will be well served in the long term.

Then I would also do some press releases, social bookmarking, RSS feed submission, yahoo answers, forum marketing and some blog commenting and guest postings. And that is it for 1K I suppose, but it should get you stared quite nicely. If you have time in your hands then you can do most of it yourself but you should also be able to outsource it for quite reasonable price. When you do decide to outsource your link building you just need to be careful that your link is not spammed willy-nilly all over the place, but they would do quality job for you.

This was a ridiculous comment. How'd that feel? Jesus. Anyway, I think, looking closer at that person's answer, that they're actually right. I mean, yea, right now the thread starter may be better off paying someone to help him initially, if he's really in a rush to start ranking but as a guy with a physical business, having really immersed in the web space, I know that KNOWING SEO has been the difference that made the difference in a lot of my ventures. Thread starter, just glean from these conversations whatever you can, and make your own decision. And let's stop disrespecting each other for no reason. We're not cavemen anymore. Thanks.

Here's the deal. It's not that hard to learn SEO and sooner or later, you can already do some SEO work on your websites/s. But what if you are busy enough or time will come that you'll expand your network of sites? Hiring competent people who can work for you is the best option. Not only that you'll have good amounts of free time to spare, you can do other marketing stuffs to boost your business. However, spending a thousand dollars for your site os too much though. Look for cheap and reliable outsourcing companies and let them do the work for you.

My post had two points. First, too many people act like there is a magic course you can take to learn SEO overnight. Learning SEO takes time, lots of it. Sure, you can get the basics down fairly quickly, but the basics are not going to get you ranked except for a keyword with little to no competition. Hiring an SEO professional versus learning to do it himself could be the difference between his website ranking in a few months versus it ranking in a year or longer from now. Obviously, that depends on the competition of the market. Second, the OP had already made the decision to spend money on SEO and was asking for advice on what he should look for. He was not asking for people's opinions on whether or not he should learn SEO himself or hire someone else to do it. It's kind of like when people make a post saying they are asking for a good automation tool for social bookmarking. Then all these people jump into the thread saying that you should do it manually instead and not use any automation. Well, the person was not asking for anyone's opinion on manual versus automation. On top of that, having looked at some of the other comments left by the person in question, it really looks like they are someone leaving nothing but one and two line comments to get their post count up and push the 35 links they have in their signature. So, yeah, I stand by my original statement. If I was too blunt in my wording of that opinion for some, well then I was too blunt. One other thing, the OP said this... Quote:
If this online venture is what you are relying on to pay your rent/mortgage, then I would strongly suggest you look at getting a "real" job to take care of your expenses. Get your online business going on the side until it builds up to a point that you can do it fulltime.

Yeah I'm looking for the same thing. Can someone list some names of good but cheap SEO companies. I don't really have a very big budget but would love to do a one off payment for some onsite optimisation etc. Thanks. |

Why not invest in learning basic on-page and off-page SEO techniques and doing the link building yourself. On-Site SEO is pretty easy (yet lengthy) as compared to off-site SEO, as link building takes all the credit at the end. But now as Google Panda is out, on-site SEO is a thing to "highly" consider. Once story short, learn basic SEO skills and I am sure you'll save so much of your money, time and the best part; you'll kill so many risks of getting spammed by some "so-called/self-proclaimed" SEO guru. Good luck,

Hi Okenyon, saw several comments here : When outsourcing then make sure how the seo company website itself is ranking. Are they ranking on top 5? Make sure to ask for their client list that they had optimized. Also you can ask for few reference. Make sure that the price should be affordable otherwise you will have to keep spending amount and no result. If possible then make an agreement, those seo expert who would are really expert wont mind to go for an agreement as well. Cheers. |

You will need to see if this is your main income website...if it is, you will need to calculate how much you can profit if you invest this $1k...one way is to see if there is a demand in your website...one mistake i made along the way is i build one website and invest money into it without knowing how much i can make it back..that was a terrible mistake...

If you only have $1000 I would not hire an SEO company like my own company cause it wont go far. I would instead encourage you to learn it yourself. When you know what it is all about then you can also make better decisions in the future. I have a training course in SEO which teaches you step by step how to gain top rankings in Google. It's called The Professional's Training Course in SEO. Feel free to check it out or any other course in the market (from a respectable source though). Once you know how it works, it will be hard for anyone to take advantage of you as well because you know too much...Also you would know which strategies work and which does not....So there is plenty of benefits in educating yourself in it...

In the beginning I tried to do my own off-site SEO and it was a time consumer. It almost had me convinced that I wasn't going to make it. Then by doing a search for "backlink pyramid" on this site, I found Mike Grant's service. I feel a lot better leaving it up to an expert and focusing my time on creating new sites to monetize rather than trying to do it all.
