What The Best Way To SEO A Category For A Keyword In Wordpress

I've got a wordpress category I would like to optimize for a keyword.

Right now I have this permalink is this the best one to use & do I need
to do anything else to get the category keyword to rank in Google.

/% category% /% postname%/

The permalink structure looks good. (Personally I prefer just /% postname%/), then create a custom template for "categories". This enables me to optimize the categories much more than "out of the box" WP.

Also make sure to give the category a good seo description.

There's a few things to think about:

1. Make sure that the category you're optimising is very tightly focused - meaning the posts you assign to that category are closely related.

2. Add some introductory text (content) so that when people land on that category page it contains more than just a listing of the posts it contains.

3. Add META titles and descriptions (and keywords) for the category page.

I don't know the Endue theme (I use Thesis), but here's an example of one of my category pages:

Thesis Theme Tips, Techniques and Tutorials | WealthyDragon

(Last time I checked it was #4 out of 59 million results for the term Thesis Theme Techniques, but it also figures for all sorts of random search terms that I'd never have thought of).

I noticed that category shows up in my browser when I click on your
link and then the post shouldn't this be the keyword for the category.
