Default Traffic Travis Weird Data! [Warning]

Is it just me or Traffic Travis is pulling out incorrect information?
Example keyword: "Dog training"

From Traffic Travis:
#1 ceasersway: 49k backlinks o.O

From SEOQuake's yahoo site explorer: 24k

That's a big difference. And this isn't all, I've had results showing thousands backlinks in TT, but when I checked yahoo site explorer, it showed less than hundred.

Now what is up with Traffic Travis? This isn't the first time it's messing up like this. No offense to the developers, just pointing out an issue.

I have noticed this too recently - a while ago Traffic Travis was showing 0 for the BL column and now its showing really large numbers.

I think they have stopped using Yahoo and changed to MajesticSEO, or something like that.

Relying on any one tool for information is always risky. I am a big fan of TT and use it daily but I also verify results using other software and manually just to make sure.

You should be using multiple methods to collect your research and then combine the data to try to find patterns and that will give you a more accurate read of where the real levels are at.

I know that it's always necessary to double check, but Traffic Travis' results are just way off... Don't tell me that 1000 backlinks and 96 backlinks are "almost" equal. This creates a big conflict for users since the deviation between the two results is enormous.

Do you have proof that Traffic Travis only gets it's backlink data from Yahoo Explorer?

If both backlink counts are not from the same source then you can't compare them to each other & expect the counts to similar.

BTW, yahoo explorer will only give you a rough idea what type of links a site/page has, it won't return all backlinks.

Well do you have proof that TT gets its backlink data from a reputable source?

If they're not from the same source, how would you compare them? And which one would you choose to make a decision? Because you can't choose them both... The difference is just too big.

I think it may get results from MajesticSEO - try comparing your results with them.

Maybe you can ask them directly how they gather backlink data?

So far, your thread title "Traffic Travis False Data! [Warning]" is based on you not knowing their backlinks sources.

yukon, if you haven't understood the real objective of this thread, then just don't post. You seem to act like you know everything, and yet you haven't given any explanation concerning the issue of this thread. I pity you.

TT changed the source of where they get their backlink data from Yahoo to SEO Majestic.

Reasons for this are simple, Yahoo explorer will be disappearing soon and SEO Majestic has more reliable data.

Just because you didn't like what he said doesn't mean he wasn't being helpful.

Honestly, I think Yukon answered your question as good as anyone else. The point is that no source of backlinks is going to give you the entire picture. Some sources will find links that others won't and there will obviously be overlap between the two but many times there simply are big gaps between two sources. It doesn't mean that either one is "wrong" simply that neither one (not even the one showing more links) has the whole picture.

So maybe Yukon didn't give you an exact reason for why TT showed more links than YSE (though he did give you a way to find out for yourself), but he did point out that YSE should never be looked at as a complete picture because it will pretty much never give you ALL of the links, but it can give you a general idea of what you're up against.

I never acted like I know everything to your false warning about TT. That's the reason I supplied you with a direct link to the TT help page, so that you could find out on your own directly from TT instead of a wild goose chase for a problem that doesn't exist.

I now realize I did fail, because I believed you were honestly looking for an answer. The thread title should have been enough to tip me off.

Don't bother replying, your blocked (I'll never see it).

Good luck,

Majestic SEO shows exactly 49,157 BL for ceasersway when "Historic Index" is used.

So TT is right. Why they are using Historic index, but not Fresh that's other question
