Hey all, I am curious as to what you think about a good number for exact match domain names. Specifically what is a decent number? What is a great number? what is an outstanding number? Thanks in advance, Will |

Coming from someone who recently bought 80 EMDs... (like 3 weeks ago) You are going to pass up a ton of great keywords if you focus on EMDs. I just don't think it's worth it in the long run to pass them up. However, to answer your question... Of the 80 I bought, all are over 1,000 exacts, probably 30% are over 3,000, and maybe 5-10% are over 5,000. All have CPC above $1, and probably 50% are over $2. But in 100th of the time it took to find these, I could have probably found 1000 3,000 exact CPC $2 that are easy to rank for. The only reason I went with EMDs is because they seem to sell really well and I'm eventually going to flip the network. So my criteria is 1,000 at least, and above 5000 is very good. |

How would you go about finding the exact cpc you were talking about? Isn't that the same as exact match keywords?

I don't really understand the question, but I'll answer what I think you're asking. An EMD is an Exact Match Domain. For example, if your keyword is Bird Feeding, birdfeeding.com is an EMD. A ton of EMDs have been bought over time, and they are relatively difficult to find for good keywords. Then there are keywords like Bird Feeding Tricks, which the EMD is not available, but might be a great keyword. Unless you're a keyword research savant, the time spent finding good EMDs simply isn't worth it, unless you have a specific reason, (like the one in my first post). Hope that helps. And for what it's worth, (and I'm finding out the hard way), it's a whole lot more work to make micro sites than one large site. Wish I would have saved my $700 I spent on domain names and just bought content for one of my other sites. But like I said, I have a specific plan for these. | |

Still not completely understanding the keywords vs EMD thing. What I think your saying is that is it is better to have a site that shows up on a particular keyword vs trying to find a keyword to make an EMD. Is that correct?
