Default Redirecting domain to main site

Hi,

Do you think it's a good idea to buy keyword domains similar to my main site and just redirect them to it?

Yes if you are sneaky about it.

No if you are too n00b to cover your tracks.

THey must be on separate IP's and hosting accounts if you can, and you shouldnt have too many of them. I believe it is against google's TOS to do that for search rankings, but it would definitely work.

For what? Where on earth is your traffic going to come from?
Who's going to be typing in a domain? You have to do a little
SEO on the domain, which is kinda a non-issue when it
comes to just a domain.

If you don't like your domain, why not create a new website using
the new one, and put a link prominently on the old one?

Of course, maybe that's what you meant in the first place.

Paul

I can say that in the past, this sort of thing worked for me. Since the Google Panda updates however, they seem to really not like redirects that much anymore. You're better off putting up satellite sites/hubs to SEO/get traffic in and find ways to get the traffic to your site or get value out of it otherwise.

The redirection method to different domain is not liked by Google so much. But it is your choice.
