And now to back to my problem:
I have adsense on my site. My CTR is around 0.3%, and daily I usually have 1000 pageviews, but only 3 clicks approximately.
Can you please suggest what is wrong here, and how to achieve better earnings with adsense ?

1. Use a clean theme which makes it easier for your viewers to pop their eyes on ads.

2. Where's most of your traffic? Home page or inner pages? Home page ads placements are horrible and for inner page you have above 1 the fold ad block which is fine. You can remove "related posts" part from your inner pages to emphasize on 336x280 block by placing it where your post content ends.

3. Tutorials and Information based sites tend to have lower CTR! People come, read and close your website, because they are in "searching for info" mode not in buying mode, so less clicks.

4. Good luck!

1)Try a simple white background theme,
2) Single column layout.
3) Reduce header size, keep header height under 100px
4) Only use one adsense block to test the theme

Try one change and listen for atleast 15 days before testing the next change. You may need to wait that longer to replace the cached content right from your server to the client browser (also proxies can cache the content as well)

Note:I would suggest you to analyze the keywords your visitors are coming from. I can say you IT(programming, web development, Computer Hardware ) related keywords does not bring you buyers compared to daily usage items.

Adsense is all about testing!

First test the easy stuff (Adsense colors)...

This is what I would change/test first, create a new color profile for your existing Ads, then use the colors below that match your WP theme colors.


1) Adsense Title color = #4a4848
2) Adsense Text color = #222222
3) Adsense URL color = #0000ff

When testing Adsense make one tweak (example, changing the colors) at a time, so you know what's going on If your CTR goes up or down. Keep track of what your testing + the dates you started the test on.

Try the color change above & let it run at least a full week (longer is better). Assumes your still getting the same traffic.

I've removed 160x600 ad in left sidebar, and I've changed ad colors according to yukon advice.
I removed related posts and I've put 250x250 ad block at the end of the post. I don't know if it would be better to put 336x280 at the post end, what do you warriors think?

And for the theme change, can you plase give me some advice which theme would be ok? It doesn't need to be free, it can be premium theme. I am willing to pay for the theme, since I think that this site has some potential.

Just did a quick assessment of your site:

1. The layout of your site is not suited for making money with adsense

2. There are too many distractions that take away peoples attention from your ads.

3. Relavant ads - Are the ads relevant to your site? If they aren't then they are less likely to get clicked.

4. No ads on your front page. Even if your front page is the post feed, you should still add some ads to it.

You are allowed up to 3 standard block style ads AND 3 link text ads on your site. Premiums places would be on the LEFT hand side of the page for a 100X600 ad, then a 336x280 at the top of the page above the content, and another 336x280 after the content.

Some people say put the 336x280 block to the left of the content and wrap the text. Sometimes this is ok, but I have seen much better results when I have that block of text centered and at the top of the content, this pushes the content down giving the ad most of the space ABOVE the fold.

Instead of having your nav on the top bar there, put a 728x15 5 link text ad there. Then just put your navigation on the left side below the tower ad ( or on the right side if you want to continue to use the dual side bar layout ).

Basically, follow the Google heat map for ad placement, it is as simple as that really; its what I do.

Are there even a lot of Adwords clients from that country? Do business men in that country have money or is it a poor country? If it is a poor country, there might not be very many publishers.

And in that country less than $1 might be a lot of a few clicks for a business man.

I planning now to change theme, does anyone knows which is best adsense theme which guarantees better CTR?

I will off course put some other changes to site recommended before, reduce header height and replace page menu with adsense link unit...

The site looks EXTREMELY cluttered... And no Adsense on the main domain?! What's up with that?! If there is... I can't find it, so that's just as bad!

Use different stylized ads... I think the horizontal Adsense blocks are more effective personally...

Examples: Both of these sites make me approximately $150-$200/mos EACH! Between both sites I'm at 4,574 page impressions for August (according to Adsense)... You can't miss the ads... But then again my clicks are worth a lot more...

Simple layouts, one is much cleaner than the other - Ad above the fold - Ad breaking the content but not sticking out like a sore thumb - Finish it up with a skyscraper in the sidebar...

This was my very first Adsense website I made over 2-yrs ago - SUPER MFA site lol! Was trying out the Xfactor/Clickbump method - Still ranks #1 for it's search terms and I haven't touched the site in a year and a half! And it makes $50-$75/month!

Hope these sites give ya some ideas... Because I've done my research and made modifications to get the results that I get...!

Like other I agree, things are very distracting - especially that Wibiya toolbar. If someone visits your site, guess what they are going to click on? Yes the toolbar. Google recommends a square ad block for maximum CTR under the heading of an article, you do not have it.

Hardly surprising, that blue color is an awful clash to your layout. I found that when looking at the articles I automatically ignored the ads, could be the color or could be the layout.

With your home page the adsense you had in the header is extremely hard to pick up, took me a few goes to actually find the adsense, and I was specifically looking for it.

On the inner pages it is very cluttered, so that's maybe why I automatically ignored the ads while reading the article. Maybe a better layout would help. With the Adsense block halfway down the page try to have it fit the paragraph instead of the square block, as it is now it looks unnatural. The only other thing I can think of is that where you have the current blocks situated images would work better.

You ignore the Ads b/c they are ugly and stick out like a sore thumb... They make your content look like sh*t... No offense... But it's ugly and jumbled. Again the Ads stick out like a sore thumb... They don't flooooooow with the content they break it... NO BUENO. Make it flow...

Dig through your CSS... Make the fonts of your Adsense blocks the same as your header/content text colors... Make it work... Make it blend and look natural... NOW, they say "don't make it look NOT like an ad." But that's when fools manipulate the script to make it COMPLETELY blend and you can't tell contextual links (or just text) from the ads... Still you're chances of getting the slap for that are slim... But they still exist.

You have obviously not played around with placement/color/ad styles/boxes which is what you're supposed to do when it comes to designing ANY type of marketing/ad driven website... Actually any website in general when you goal is CLICKTHROUGHS!!

Play, tweak, sit, wait, play, tweak, sit, wait... Come on it's an art. It can't be taught... You can learn methods, but you will find your own way... All the crap in the WSO subforum or "follow my method to hundreds" threads are crap. Actually, they aren't crap, they are very informative (most of them) but you can't do what they do and expect the same results... You have to play to prosper...

OH! and YUKON knows his stuff... I would take his advice over most on this forum purely from his experience alone... Kids been in it a minute...! Your CTR sucks b/c your layout and ads suck. Like I said they stick out like a sore thumb, break up content, and are simply unappealing... Your CTR didn't drop b/c you took YUKON's advice... It's your layout and placement. His color opinion WORKS with your sites colors... Dude... Tweak them ads and figure out what works... Do this on your own recognizance... OH! OH! (Like P.P.S.) Make sure that in your Adsense account under My Account ---> Account Settings this is set:

Interest-based ads: Do not show ads based on user interest or demographic categories. Visitation information from my sites will not be used to help create interest or demographic categories.
I guarantee you CTR will increase if you already have interest based ads turned off... GUARANTEE IT! Just like everyone selling WSO's and crap...! HA!

I only make $8 per 2,400 uniques a day with an optimised site (yes, optimised for Adsense). It all depends on the type of people visiting your site, however correct ad placement can help a huge deal depending on your exact circumstances.

Also, I tend to get better results with interest based ads turned on, probably due to more advertisers bidding against each other as opposed to when it's turned off.

Well, after a 10 months of testing, I still have no progress with adsense. I merely get 5-6 clicks a day, and my earning from those clicks are around 1 $ . Awful, I must say. I tried everything possible listening to your advices: change ad positioning, change fonts and colors, and still nothing.
Only one thing left to try: change the site theme again.

Hi I can give you some suggestions man.
White background is fine, I think line-height is a little big. try use "font-size:small" and "line-height:21px", and make your text color a little darker, maybe #333333, it is hard to read.

1.remove the navigation link "You are here****", move the author info to the end or make it no links. make your content higher position.
2.remove the headline 728*90 ads. no one will focus on it. remove the link unit ad, it is no use on information type site. I test it by myself many times, no luck.
3.remove the under title 728*90 ads, it is telling people "I am ads don't click on me." use block like 336*280 or 300*250, top right of your contents, under 2 lines, they have good cpc.
4.move your sidebar to right side. that will let the 336*280 ad shows in the middle of the page, people can not ignore it.
5. keep your sidebar clean, remove the 160*600 ad. no one will focus on it too.
6. put the 160* 600 ad under your post title and float left beside the contents, and put a 336*280 ad at the end of your content.

my point is , surround your content by three ads, whenever the visitors want to leave, they catch ads.

and I saw you change the link color too, so far based on my test. #0000ff is not the best one, I prefer #0022ff or #0033ff.

I switched back to my default theme, and in only 3 hours, I had 4 clicks. I stick to it for now.
