Default Facebook CPC or CPM

I want to advertise a product on fb and i saw something that caught my attention. I was able to get $2 for 1,000 impressions. Is that really possible? i want to be sure before i put in my $200 which is suppose to mean 100,000 views over the next 1hr to advertise a particular product?

If it was that cheap why do people prefer CPC?

Waiting for your kind response.

It depends on who you are targeting and your goals, on which makes more sense.

For example try targeting an audience of less than 12k and choose CPM, you'll find your clicks are way, way cheaper than if you went with a CPC campaign. This really works well once you know what you are doing and can correctly target your audience--otherwise it can get pricey quick.

I've paid roughly around $.06 for clicks with this method, and it works well when you need a fanpage "LIKE" boost.

$2 per CPM seems quite pricey to me, usually they quote me right around 80 cents or so. I would reel in the campaign and see how you can better target those you KNOW will be interested in what you are advertising.

@blogging pro. wow. i was even jumpy that with just $2 i could get my message out there to 1,000 people and probably get 10% of that number to click on my fan page.

What makes you think that 1000 impressions means that your going to reach 1000 separate people?

If you target ALOT of people, like more than 50k you'll find your 1000 impressions will be up in about a minute after your advertisement is approved. You might as well just go out and light your $2 on fire.

Bloggingpro is right. But since it's only $2 anyway, why don't you give it a try. Worst that could happen is that you get 0 conversion... Isn't that bad

I certainly don't mean to discourage you from advertising on Facebook. They offer the best targeting tools for advertisers, that it just makes no sense to be broad. Go specific and you will see results.

They will let you drill down to the smallest detail. And I'm not just talking about interests and disinterests here. I'm talking about serious demographic information that is available at the push of a button--use it to your advantage to get the best ROI you can.

Another thing: The average click-rate on a Facebook ad is quite low. Often you land around .1%, depending on the quality of your add. Very few ads manage to get a click rate more than 1%.

As I see it.. CPM is when you have really good converting adas, CPC for getting there.

Instead of putting in the 200 dollars why not test both of them? Just add a little bit of money for each of them and see what results you get. Then you'll know which one to pick.

I'd go with CPC. As of one of their updates CPM based advertising became more geared towards branding/exposure rather than "clicks"

10% is a little bit high
Usually you are lucky to get 0.1% CTR. I still prefer CPM though, if you know your audience and use an ad that youself would actually click on then you can get some very cheap clicks (I used to pay about 0.05$ per click once).
