I recently was looking for a nice aged domain for the website I will be making, I was looking for aged domain so it would help with seo ranking. The domain is not bad but its a .net ... Should I go for a 3 yr old .com domain or a 10 yr old .net domain? |

If this is a business that will be doing a lot of offline advertising... newspapers, mailers, flyers, business cards, etc., I would consider the .com as you do not want people accidentally typing in .com out of habit and finding a competitor. For online advertising, it does not matter and I would take the 10 year-old domain in a heartbeat. The TLD does not affect SEO. You will not be relying on people to type in a URL. They will be clicking on a link. |

Depends on what your trying to do with the domain. If you are a company it would look more professional to have a .com but if you are making an affiliate site .net would not be a bad choice for a domain. I would stick to buying .org .net and .com. Those are the 3 i buy most of.

I would personally jump on that 10 year old domain and FIND something that fit it! Ten year old domain will give you a great leg up the SERPS! Best wishes, (not that you will need 'em) Ruth |

Hi Keen creations, It is not the age of the domain that matters, it is the aged backlinks that point to the domain that matters. The 3 yr old domain might be far more valuable than the 10 yr old domain. The age of a domain is a hint that it "might" be valuable, not actual evidence of value. Don't just look at the domain age, look at the backlinks that point to the domain to determine the true value. |

There is NO DIFFERENCE between .com, .net, .org, etc when it comes to SEO. I'm surprised that people still say otherwise. If you're looking to brand yourself, then sure, a .com is preferred in most cases. But that's only because there's plenty of fairly clueless people in the "outside world" who don't trust a website / company unless it's a .com |

I would go with it even though it is a .net. I have found that I have had no trouble ranking a .net ever.

I don't know what happened here but I think I need help. I bought a domain today to start your regular old coffee blog with some ads on it..blah blah blah. I was trying to be cute and the domain is coffeefor.us (ha ha, get it?) anyway...it has an age of August 2006 on the my toolbar and 62 backlinks. What's up with that?
