MarketSamurai Controversy

Today I started MarketSamurai and did a Rank Teacker check.
It reported that my site is ranked #7 on Google.
Cool!

Then I started the SEO Competiton module in MarketSamurai to find out how my site does against the other Top 10 sites.

The SEO Competition module brought up all the Top 10 results and did a comparison between them, however my site was not one of them!

How is this possible?

First MarketSamurai reports that I am #7 on Google (i.e. - I'm in the Top 10), then MarketSamurai does a Top 10 comparison and my site isn't in the list...

WTF?

Market Samurai's rank tracker module is useless. It is flawed and should be avoided.

I use 3 (just to make sure they are giving me accurate info and one hasn't gone haywire).

I would probably recommend CuteRank to anyone who just has a few sites and is tracking their own rankings. It is the cheapest.

For anyone that has a lot of sites and keywords and/or clients they work for, one of the first two is your best solution. I started using AWR sometime ago because I liked their reporting options better than Rank Tracker. However, Rank Tracker has recently changed their reporting and it looks much better now.

All three are very accurate. They are quick too depending on the settings you use.

I personally don't like MarketSamurai. I have tried the trial, but I find the program to be slow, it is crashing and it is using Google keyword tool for keywords analysis.

I haven't seen that happen, but did you try posting the question in their forum. If it's a bug in the program I'm sure it'll get answered one way or another, the other members should be very concerned if it's true.

SEO book has a great plugin (it's also free) for Mozilla firefox. You can check all your rankings at once and even do it in different search engines or different countries within Google. It's a great tool and it's free.

Market Samurai is a great tool but no tool does it all

Not a bad free tool, but it is horrible if you want to track the history of your rankings.

If you just want to know where you rank right now at this moment, it is a good option.

my MS trial has crashed just about every time I tried using it. amazing. amazingly buggy. why deal with bugs and time limited trials when there is a freely available rank tracker from seo powersuite which you can keep using indefinitely. and oh, its pretty darn accurate too.

You could also try A1 Keyword Research. It can check different region/language versions of search engines simultaneously (and do more keywords in one run)

You can save results as well, so position history can be kept and exported to CSV/graph

Completely agree, Market Samurai never gives me good results. I use advanced web ranking, Traffic Travis and SEO Rank Tracker.

I love how powerful advanced web ranking is but it always takes a long time. Traffic Travis and SEO rank Tracker from link assistant are much fast IMOH
