I recently purchased Article Marketing Robot and now am second-guessing that decision. Submitted an article last night (which took me forever to spin) and it only was successful for 63 directories. Reasons for failure included: log-in failed, category mismatch, 403 error, unable to get category and disallowed in body/summary. I wanted to try my own backlinking but now wonder if I would be better off to simply use a service. |

It's always been known to have low success rate. The key is to submit to a lot. With that said it might be better for you to spend the time spinning (or not spinning at all) and use a fiverr service. Submission service in general cost less than spin service. Depends on your budget. The reason why I would keep amr is to spread submissions out for long periods of time where hiring a service most likely wouldn't provide that. |

Articles need to be spun before submitting, right? | |

Always always use spun content when you use a bot. The last thing you want is a footprint that could hurt your rankings.

AMR links just ain't what they use to be, most of the directories on the list are de-indexed by google because they've been labeled as link farms, plus google is about to release another panda update soon further targeting scraper sites, so your duplicate/spun content is going to be further de-valued, better off going with quality links now than with the old automated blasts.

JMO but for a one time payment AMR is hard to beat, once the accounts are set up you can distribute the articles with a click. The 63 that were successful are only those that automatically accepts the article (I'm assuming you submitted them all at once?), some take days or even weeks. You don't have to spin the articles, in fact if you're not going to spin them REALLY well at the sentence/paragraph level AND the synonym replacement (several hours sounds about right) I wouldn't even bother spinning them at all. If they don't read well the directories that are manually reviewing them probably won't accept them anyway. I'm not sure what footprints the OP is talking about for unspun articles because it's basically the same as having it syndicated or doing a press release. Some people only spin the anchor text and maybe the title. But they seem to stick better IF spun well. I usually get a low rate with the live links because it's done only about a half hour after submitting them. If you want the live links almost immediately take a look at DigiArticleBlaster (Andy Fletcher - up at the top), you get around 200 links immediately (spun or unspun). I usually submit a plain article first (monitor my rankings) and wait to see if it's worth it to take the time to spin an article. |

I am not sure if software is still useful today. Much better to do link building manually.

Actually, if you are only submitting PR1 and above, 60-something out of 180 is about par for the course. You could improve on that a little by trying to dig up some more categories (like General, Miscellaneous etc.) Also look around for a huge list of directories you can import - a guy on Fiverr sells it. Many of those are duff too but it does give you a fair number more to play with. Just keep tweaking, it takes a while to get a feel for what gets best results in AMR. It's my main tool, though I use it as part of an overall strategy, no tool is really effective in isolation. |
