Hey Mike,

It is just the most simplest of ideas that always seem to be the best. I actually use SEOspyglass myself on competitors sites, and on their Squidoo Lenses and YouTube and such web properties. Love the Link Value column, gives you an idea what to get more of.

Another trick I use is once I find a comment on a good PR .gov or .edu, is to search in Google for "posted by Dallas Real Estate" or "comment by Skin Care" blah blah, you get the idea. Its another easy way to find where other blog post commenters are dropping links. Plenty of nuggets to be had among the crap.

Anyhoo I receive a ton of those spammy comments on my own Wordpress blogs on a daily basis. I shall be putting your trick to great use.

LOL! Else, scan backlinks of top websites in serp for keyword like Ugg boots, Viagra, MBT shoes, Replica Hand Bags etc etc. They are the biggest comments spammers.

I do this all the time, but I use Scrapebox.

Scrape the URL with the "site:" command in front. Pulls all of their indexed pages. Check the backlinks to every page and sort them by PR. Get rid of the low PR ones and run the remaining ones through the link extractor, eliminating all the sites with a lot of OBL.

It works a little faster than SpyGlass, but it also doesn't pull backlinks from as many sources. Little bit of a trade-off there.


Edit: You can even go one step further. Grab all their links. Run the outbound link extractor on those sites. This way you grab all the other sites those pages are linking too. Then get the backlinks of those sites as well.

Nonsense. Why limit to just the ones that use blog commenting? There are lots of ways to get links from these sites. To only limit your thinking to blog commenting is short-sighted and foolish.

Just to name a few... You can ask for a link. You can offer to do a guest blog post. You can ask to exchange links.

What's OBL... does this mean sites with tons of blog posts already?

Also... why not just find high PR, relavant sites using scrapebox, and comment on them?

Does this method mean your comment is more likely to stick?

OBL means outbound links.

I look for high PR links with Scrapebox all the time. This is just another way to find links.

And I do not limit myself to just "relevant" sites.

Thats right theres no reason why you have to use the sites like the spammers do. Basically when you do find webmasters that are willing to give links you should take that as an opportunity to respectfully participate, leave a link and see if you can do more within the goals of a webmaster.
