It is 4 months of link building activities and these 2 highly competitive keywords are ranking third and second page respectively. Keyword 01 - 201,818 (Global Monthly Exact Searches), Rank #24 Keyword 02 - 60,727 (Global Monthly Exact Searches), Rank #13 Most probably these 2 keywords will reach page 1 by end of this year if I continue to build backlinks consistently. But every site out there will definitely build backlinks to maintain or improve their rankings. I've made some money from these 2 keywords and thinking of investing the money back to these 2 keyword to get better rankings. It's not impossible to reach top 3 spots but it might take at least another year or maybe 2. Should I continue these 2 highly competitive keywords? |

Jeez richard78, That's a tough one to answer. You've already made some money from these 2 keywords and they're not even on the 1st page. That's far from a bad sign. ![]() My advice: Get keyword 02 on the 1st page and see what difference it makes to your income and then use that as a basis for you decision. Quote:

| Hi Richard, The one thing the answer necessarily depends on - above all else - appears to be the one thing about which you've provided no information at all: the SEO quality of the sites currently ranked above yours. Nobody can advise you without knowing that! ![]() If the whole of the front page of Google's SERP's comprises age-old authority sites with 100 backlinks each from other age-old authority sites in the relevant niche, then personally I'd abandon "SEO-specific efforts" completely, because it would be far beyond my own ability (and intent) to get on the front page at all, through anything I could do myself. If they contain sites that seem "nothing special" with backlinks primarily from non-context-relevant sites (e.g. thousands of article directory/forum profile backlinks), then I'd confidently continue, expecting pretty easily to rise to the top within a week or two, just by getting some backlinks from relevant sites. I suspect the truth is perhaps somewhere between these two unusual extremes? But where, exactly, between them? Without this information, how can one possibly make a decision?! |

I think you should change your strategy. If I were you then I might select the second keyword as my main target and then I would select 4 other keywords that has under 1900 Exact searches globally per month.

Since your rankings are slowly going up and you made money from them you could continue on with it but personally I would try a few more keywords. I'm sure there are some low competition, high search volume keywords you can rank for easily and help boost your site even further up the ranking. Plus you would even rank for keywords that you don't even promote. I have seen that in a couple of my sites because I promote using several keywords |

wow if I had sites ranking on 2nd and 3rd page in that competitive of a niche, I'd be ecstatic. Why do you want to give up? I would work my butt off to make the final push into first page.

If you already got your site this far, you need to keep working on these keywords! Eventually, you will be successful, but you will have to keep building links. Make sure you have lots of links, a wide variety of links, and some high quality PR links. It sounds like you have a lot of competition for your keywords, but you are doing well! Lastly, make sure you keep consistently building links. Set a goal for 50 links a day or 100 links a day or whatever goal you set, and STICK to the plan! |

It all comes down to your budget and objectives, personally I'd go for it, there's a lot of traffic you're on the cusp of getting, big reward in my eyes.

I think you are doing the right thing by continuing with KW2. KW2 will be much easier to rank than KW1. My advice would be to focus on KW2 and some lower competition keywords. Later on you can use the income from these keywords to try and rank for KW1. Good luck! |

Keyword 01 - searching for information Keyword 02 - searching for specific products Obviously keyword 02 is a better buying keyword than keyword 01, and it is much easier to rank. As mentioned earlier, I’ll continue keyword 02 and abandon keyword 01. I’ll reinvest everything made from this site in SEO every month and get more keywords to rank higher. It took 4 months to get these 2 keywords to rank, keyword 02 is on page 2 and has made 2 sales in Sept, but it’s too early to tell anything. I’ve made some sales from some low competition keywords as well. My goal is to get more low competition keywords to rank 1st by end of the year, as most of them are already on first page and continue on keyword 02 as well. Probably, it will take a year for keyword 02 to rank in top 3. Thanks for your advice. |
