For your site you should have the keyword in your URL, header, description, and title. This is most important for onsite. After this you will have to focus on getting links to your site to build its rating

In SEO process you have to follow two things first is On page SEO and second is Off page SEO.

In On page we have to work on title tag, Meta tag and content of our website. On the other hand In Off page optimization we have to work on all backlinks generating methods like forum posting, blog commenting, directory submission, social bookmarking.

I would say just use wordpress and get easyWpseo from Chris Landrum and never worry about on-site SEO again. I make nothing on this btw, just payin' it forward. Serious ranking increases just from his tool though.

On page seo you will need your main keyword underlined, bold, and in italic. You will need to begin the article on your pare with the main keyword and your article will have to end with the main keyword. I would also had h1, h2, and h3 tabs of your keyword along with adding an image tagged with your main keyword both in Alt text and title. Easywpseo is a great plugin to help you out with all of this.
