Backlinking to just 1 page, bad idea?

I'm using a backlink service and was advised to just backlink to the main url, for the first couple of months anyway.

Is this a bad idea, to just backlink to 1 page? I think I read something about this being a bad idea... or is it that I just need to use more than the same anchor text?

It looks more natural if you have backlinks to many pages if not all pages of your site. If you have backlinks only to the main page, then only it would go up in SERP.

I would backlink to at least 3 pages +. I used to just link to my homepage but now i have started linking to all my pages on my sites to make my websites backlinks look more natural. This also helps out your rankings as well. More backlinks on other pages will help you gain more authority.

You need to backlink to multiple pages on your site. It looks more natural in the search engines, and you want to rank other pages of your site too. I would vary your anchor text too. I would still target most of your links to 1 anchor text keyword per page, but it will look more natural if a few of your links to your home page use different keywords.

Backlinking to only your home page for a couple of months seem like overkill. For just the first month is fine, but you also need links to your other pages. Don't be afraid to spread the link love around a little bit.

Just remember, everyone is going to have a different opinion on link building. Your best bet is to try different techniques on different sites and see what works best for you.

IMHO, I would rather backlink to my mainpage and sub-pages together. this is a good way of doing backlinking.

Yes This is Bad Idea. For Example Like You have Website of SEO:-

Then If you targeted Seo Services-->> Then Target Main URl.
IF you Targeted ur Services Then Use That Page Which Describe your that Service.

you should also build backlinks to the internal pages as well along with the home page

It is not a bad idea . when you will just link to one domain that domain will get ranked better in search engine and after that go for next
