[ASK] how to make a one way backlinks through trackbacks

Hi,

I still dont understand how trackbacks work. I heard they are good since they are less abused than blog commenting and get less moderation/filter from the webmaster. Also, I read that it's possible to make a one way backlinks through them instead of reciprocal links.

The question is : How to ?
And what foot prints ??
