Is anyone who has experience with article marketing and directory marketing? I am starting marketing but hard to decide which one to start with. Which one is better for SEO? |

From what I here, most directories are near worthless, there are some respected directories, generally ones that you can't get into through automation. I recall seeing some 50+ directories on one IP, which I assume were owned by a directory submission service. While some employ a lot of automation in their article marketing, at least someone had to actually write the first version at some point. |

You need to use both of these techniques and more in your linkbuilding efforts to create the diversity that the engines are looking for in your link profile. Don't start with one, just do both and more.

I agree that article marketing is superior. I had never used directory submission until a few months ago. For the past few years I have basically used article marketing, guest posting, and 3 way link exchanges with related sites and achieved a variety of number one rankings in google that brough me to a full time income on line. It is only lately that I have expanded to blog commenting, forum profiles, and as already mentioned directory submissions. I also use a backlinks indexer program to make sure my articles get indexed. |

Stick with articles but it never hurts to get a few directory links to throw into the mix. Just stay away from the 50000 mass directory submissions crap and pay to have a good quality link into a quality directory.

| A big YES. Of course, article marketing is way better than directory marketing. Though directory marketing can still be of use these days, but its value is less. Article marketing gives a more powerful effect on your website when done properly and effectively.

Use both methods but for directories, try paid directories but go for cheaper options.

Of course, no one is holding a gun to our heads and saying do one or the other :-) So both is better than one or the other. However, I think directory links should supplement article marketing and not vice versa.

I prefer both but focused more on article submission with unique and high quality content.
