It's not my understanding that the "Google Dance" has anything to do with your backlinks disappearing.

If your back links are disappearing then most likely they were junk temporary links or the sites you have them on are deleting them, such as usually happens with spam links.

Or... You may have created links that Google never recognized in the first place or hasn't found them yet.

How did you determine your backlinks disappeared?

I experienced my site went out of google search for few days before. It came back later and it might be what you had just said 'Google Dance'. Be patient for few days and see if your site is back or not.

Your backlinks really shouldn't go anywhere. Unless they were just junk links to begin with. It's happened to me before too. There's been times where I bought a link package of over 500 links and maybe 5 stick.

By the way, the Google dance is when your site disappears for a while right after you push a bunch of links into.

Good luck.

Shane

right

I just spent 3 days doing nothing but manually creating backlinks and none of them were spam

I followed all the rules, waited the correct amount of time and so on. They were all on relevant sites forums and blogs

maybe that is the reason... hmm

checked using several backlink checking tools (SEOQuake, SERPSAttack)

Did you ping your links so Google knows about them?

yes they were all do follow and none were no follow (I dont bother if they are)

I havent pinged though because I am cautious about over pinging

this is I checked my backilinks yesterday and they were all there glowing lovely like beacons (PR9 to PR4 and plenty of .edu ones too)

today I checked and there are 3 low ranking incoming links! arrghh

will have to wait 2 or 3 days and see

'Google Dance' and vanishing backlinks don't really go together in my eyes. Google dance is theory that when sites fall in ranking after linking building it is possibly Google playing around trying to figure out the real ranking of sites in SERP. Vanishing backlinks could be that the site owners deleted them.

The tool you use to check could also be a serious variable. They all show different data.

you need to check the source of the backlinks...sometimes the owners might just get removed and this has nothing to do with google...

MajesticSEO is a good place to look up how many backlinks a specific website or web page has. They seem to find backlinks within a day or two and keep their database fresh. I'm sure Google's just as quick and thorough about indexing backlinks, but they throw us off by not letting us know what ones they know about & when they discovered them.

Google dance has nothing to do with your backlinks disappearing. Google dance is simply the change in your keywords rankings

Google dance is the time period when google sends its spiders to crawl a website to check for its contents, it is said to be happening once in a month, nobody has got any better idea about when google is indexing the web pages.

I put a post on this that nobody has responded to yet. I signed up for Majestic and they haven't found any links since the middle of July. I've done a ton of linking since then, blogged, posted, submitted articles, etc, but they aren't picking up any of them. What's up with that?
