Can someone quickly explain... (Adwords)

Hey there! I'm new to the WF and plan to be an ever-growing member here. I need a few clarifications:

You canNOT directly link a campaign to a sales page right? But... What if you bring traffic to a squeeze page first that THEN redirects one to a sales page, instead of your own blog or other related site?

If you cannot do the above, then what do you guys do that can be similar to this scenario?

My plans are to get started with an Adwords campaign as quickly as possible, building a list and then generating income by redirecting them to a sales page... but please let me know if this is allowed or ideal.
