Arrow Onsite SEO beyond the basics

Hey guys

I'm trying to improve my skills regarding Onsite SEO, besides the basic rules.

Any of you can give me a hand, or perhaps point me to a free ebook or to some site with excellent info about it? Recent info, if possible (after Panda, I mean).

Thanks.
I think this might be usefull to others, also.

Cheers

Paulo

Trust me you don't want advanced seo posted on an open forum, every DP wannabe spammer will drive it into the ground, then G cracks down on that technique.

My best suggestion is to look at very competitive keywords in the SERPs, & dig into their source code, you won't believe some of the cool seo things that you'll find.

It does suck that everyone can't share, because I have plenty of things I would share If it wasn't for the spammers among us.

hi Paulo,

If you haven't already checked out the beginners guide to SEO from seomoz, then its a good place to start.

SEO: The Free Beginner?s Guide From SEOmoz

Also here is one more useful guide on SEO

SEO in Practice - Free SEO Book - SEO Guide For Online Marketersepreneurs

With regards to onpage SEO, i don't think there is something new you will learn which is specefic to panda update. All the good onpage SEO practices covered in both these guides are still good even after the panda update. The only difference after the panda update is that the Onpage seo is given a bit more importance. I have purchased quiet a few ebooks that talked about panda update and most of them only talked about the same SEO stuff thats covered in these books.

Apart from reading these guides, you can check out some of the best SEO related blogs to keep you updated.

Best SEO Blogs: Top 10 Sources to Stay Up-to-Date | SEOmoz

Can I ask you what's the KW percentage that you use? Because there are a lot of information on those numbers. I stick to +-3%.

With regards to keyword density 2-3% is a safe option. But there is no written rule with regards to the optimum percentage. I personally use Internet Business Promoter to analyse the top 10 competition for the keyword I want to target. It gives out a detailed report with regards to the keyword density of the top ranking sites along with other factors. I use the average keyword density of the top sites as a guideline. Even keyword elite 2 has the feature to analyse the top sites with regards to keyword density.

You could also use free sites like Keyword Density Analyzer tool for search engine optimization and internet marketing experts
to analyse the keyword density of sites that are already ranking in the top. Once you know the keyword density of those sites that are already ranking , you should be able to get to top if you stick to the same keyword density and do a better job on the other factors like backlinks.

It sucks that we can't put affiliate links in these posts so I will be kicking myself later but I suggest you check out the "SEO pressor" Wordpress plugin. Just google it or better yet sign up on Clickbank and buy it from your own link.

I have been using it on all of my sites and it just takes the headache out of watching every single detail of your on-page factors. All of my sites I've used it on are ranked #23 or higher on Google.

Quality backlinks are the bread and butter of any successful search campaign.

Use my affordable link building services to BOOST your rankings in the SERPs.

I think that as long as you do on-page seo, internal linking, and linkbuilding you will be fine. As far as on-page goes look at your competitors source code to see if they have anything unique. Otherwise just do the obvious things like keyword in the title, domain name if possible, h1/h2/h3 tags, meta description, meta keywords, alt/title texts of images, keyword within the content, blog posts optimized for that keyword, and internal linking with the anchor text as your keyword.

Develop your website with ease of use and conversion in mind. Search engines measure the time before each use back button frames and return to the search results. Search engines also measure CTR.

Hey Yukon, are/were you a computer scientist or engineer before you got into internet marketing because you seem to know a lot about coding. You seem proficient in coding the post posts I see you make. Or did you teach yourself everything you know about coding?

Just curious.

Don't worry to much about on site SEO. Forget the KW percentage. Focus on one thing: backlinks!!!

When ever you want to learn about On-page factors you have to take care of these things -
1) Alt text in images
2) Avoid Flash
3) Page loading time should less
4) Relevant images
5) Keyword density (Should be used 3-4 times in 300 words articles)
6) Heading tags (h1,h2,h3)
7) Meta elements (Title, Keywords, Description)
8) Geographical Tag
9) favicon
10) canonical issue.

I've worked 10 years offline as a programmer for an international business.

Everything related to websites/IM I've learned on my own, I've just always found code interesting. Working offline no doubt helped me when I moved online. Still, anyone can learn this stuff, Google will show you any code sample or tutorial you want to test.

I'll tell you this, everything you see in the SERPs happend for a reason, not by luck. A lot of folks take things personal when it comes to Google SERPs, which is wrong. If you dig into a top raking site for any keyword, you'll be surprised (most times) at some of the advanced tweaks they are doing for on-page seo.

Compare the live webpage to the Google Cache (text only version) for that same page, you'll see a lot of times that the content/format has changed. Any page ranking first page in the SERPs, that content/format change isn't by accident, they are up to something, dig deeper into the source code & you'll find it. Copy the technique to your sites.

The key is knowing what your competition is doing for all aspects of SEO and doing it better. I am amazed at how many websites that rank very well are not well optimized in aspects of SEO. Keyword density is only one of the many factors to look at.

Website Ranking Analysis because you need to be #1 in Google for your keywords!
