Do you want to know what is really hard with SEO? Well, I have a couple of websites on Google top 10 for competitive keywords for more than one year, and the hardest part is NOT getting your website in the Top 10. The hardest part is to STAY there. Here is what I do to stay at the top: 1. I add new pages to my website and get link towards them from authority sites (like Squidoo, EZA, social bookmarking) 2. I make sure to update my pages at least once every 2 months (my money pages, the one I want to rank for) 3. I put a blog on my domain 4. I comment on blogs Important NOTE: for beginners, I do not make this alone, I outsource most of this. What are your tips to stay at the top of Google? Franck |

1. Bookmark your websites at social bookmarking sites (digg, stumbleupon, propeller etc) often. 2. Submit articles (with links and proper anchor text in the resource box) to ezinearticles every now and then. |

Ah almost forgot, build more authorities to your submitted backlinks, For articles, squidoo, and the likes, you can social bookmark them. For the backlinks from social bookmarking sites, you can ask people to vote for your stories. |

The bottom line is, regularly updated content and fresh new incoming links on a regular basis. That's really about it. There really is no mystery to staying at the top - but you do have to prove that you belong there. - Kristine | |

Bottom line, is adding links and creating good content, the main reason people lose their position is because they stop seo while their cometitors keep doing it

| You're right! That's why it's good for us. Not only do most people discontinue SEO on their main keyword phrases, they usually don't get to a second set of keywords which leaves them almost wide open.

I haven't managed to do this, but if you are really good on something, say mac for example, Find blogs with high traffic, offer the blog owners what you have - be a guest writer there. I find this works well to increase traffic for the guest writers at problogger. Or if you have a physical products to offer, join the social shopping sites, write reviews about the products. Some social shopping sites allow dofollow links. |

Awesome, this one is great. I wrote articles for a blog with heavy traffic, added a link back to one of my site, and get a couple of sales. This is an excellent technique. You get backlinks and traffic at the same time. The only thing is that it's difficult to outsource. Franck Quote:

Having just started this whole seo thing, i can say by no means are the results instant. You are 100% right in what your saying it takes work and time. Outsourcing is great however when first starting this is ery difficult as obviously funds are limited. |

Write about 30 articles in your niche and schedule them to be dripped on your blog biweekly. That will keep your site growing and adding fresh relevant content. And you can do the work now and have it last a whole year. The other thing is to have an outsourcer write the same number of articles for you and push them out on the alternating weeks to the article sites with links back to your site. So if you write 60 articles a year and put 30 on site and 30 off site then you will be fine.

V. true, there is indeed a certain art in balancing, on one hand the obvious benefits of SEO, and on the other the earning potential of PPC. I personally advocate a fluid strategy when it comes to such matter; one must be always aware of changing conditions, and the consequences for earning potential, customer reach etc. The value of good SEO should not be underestimated Outsourcing does take a lot of the workload off, the costs however can be economically unviable, especially for recent start-ups. I think that with a dedicated mind set it is possible (through hard work) to eventually see great returns with regards to SEO, without undue expense. It's a process of trial and error. Good luck! |
