I've got a pretty big content site that has some very old, no-longer-useful information on it. The pages have no links in except internal links. I want to delete them. What is the best practice? Delete them and let the bots find a 404? 301 redirect them to my home page? (I don't like this one) something else? I am going to remove all internal links pointing to them, so I guess my big question is what will the search engines like the best? |

If you have backlinks pointed to those pages, or those pages have PR, than a 301 redirect may be useful. You can determine that by using seo spyglass (free version should work fine) Or if you don't want to spend time, just deleting them is good enough. |

if you dont want to delete or redirect them then do one thing, you can add no index attribute in meta.
