Are these ad placements against adsense rules? I think they are not but I'm not sure. Is this horizontal link unit above the title ok? |

Must be other navigation menus. Not allowed to make adsense look like page menus.

Thanks. I will not use that horizontal link unit at the top... Yes it's ugly layout but it works fine in particular niches. I use these placements (not this link unit) on one of my sites and I received message from google adsense team and they said use more ads, you lose money |

Adsense shows the highest bidding ads. The more ads you shown the page, the lower the average bid price paid for those ads. You have to work out where the best balance of quantity/bid price is for your page.
