Help and advice needed with seo backlinks.

Hi all

I've done all my own seo up to now and have my site on the first page of Google for all my main keywords. I am usually either no. 2 or no. 3 in the search engines.

Happy to be there but it still niggles me that I am not no. 1 which is what I really want

My site is nothing to do with internet marketing by the way. We are a construction company from Liverpool, England and provide our customers with building services such as extensions, renovations etc.

I've gotten to where I am with my ranking I believe mainly from the keyword rich content on my site. I've written a couple of articles for article directories and have had somebody do an rss feed or other to also try and help my seo for the site.

I want to try and get some good backlinks to my site but I question some of the methods that are in use by companies out there! I just paid for a service where a company said they would help with a backlinks campaign but was shocked to see that all they were effectively doing was spamming peoples blogs and posting my sites link. None of these sites they posted on were relevant to building or construction either.

I get spammers posting these spammy links on my blog and I just delete them immediately. They never get approved so not sure why they bother posting them.

Please can anybody advise on my best way forward to gain a good amount of quality backlinks that will help my site in the search engines etc. I can't afford to have my site damaged by 'junk links' or anything spammy.

The articles I've submitted to Ezine are fine but Ezine don't always seem to give a backlink for some reason. I actually just started making posts to my blog instead and within a week or so the posts would be on the first or second page.

I don't have many backlinks to my site though, probably less that 6

So which way forward please warriors for better SEO and backlinks?

Article Marketing?
Video Posting?
A paid service that provides backlinks? If so which service is proven?

Need some help to take my site forward and keep it high in the search engines.

Any help graciously appreciated.

It sounds like you already have most of the process in your head you just need to step it up a little bit. First of all to get your backlinks up quickly without doing any sort of spamming you can do some manual blog commenting or bookmarking. Article submissions are a great way to get very relevant backlinks but their worth is lowering these days and they are a lot of work to get.

Video posting can be very effective in certain niches for generating traffic but I am unsure of its use for backlinks. One thing I would suggest if you are building backlinks and not seeing them get indexed is to ping a couple of times, pinging will help to get them indexed quicker especially if you are dealing with articles that are among thousands of other articles as they are unlikely to get indexed otherwise.

I have found forums that are in the same topics of mt sites. I join those forums add my signature and make some posts. Put your topic in google and ask for forums.

Hmm, I would suggest if you are ranking for having quality content on your site, then keep putting quality content on your site. The only way a site gains real authority is if it's got a lot of quality content, or really high quality back links from authority sites. If it isn't broke, don't fix it, there's nothing wrong with number two.

Yes I will certainly carry on writing the quality content on my site for sure.
Jim.. unsure what 'pinging' is all about?

My site is built around a wordpress blog and when I make a post I think it does something called 'pinging' Is this the same sort of thing you refer to here?

Seeing that you are running a construction company, I think a good option for you would be to hire a better backlinking service. There are a ton in the 'warriors for hire' section of this forum. Moving up in the top 3 spots will probably be very difficult and require a lot of work so hiring a reputable service will allow you to spend your time working on your construction business.
