In terms of SEO, no difference. In terms of people, the default extension in peoples mind is always .com, so that will be easier to remember |

I also suggest you to go for .com domain extension. I always try to prefer .com domain extensions only.

That being said, for any important website, I always use a .COM, even if in means adding an extra character or word. | |

As SEO does not care, it is a toss up. The only thing that has been tossed about is that people, in general, seem to search for .com sites. The thing is, most people do not put in the .com or .net when searching, they simply plug in the keywords or phrases that they are looking for, and choose whatever site links that come up. The other thing is that everyone is so used to seeing .net and .org, that I can't see that it really make much difference. A few years ago this may have been an issue, but I have not this to be a problem. |

I read that .com does make a difference for getting indexed quicker by Google I always go for .com first, without fail - .net or .org if I have to - I wouldn't even consider anything else as search engines won't trust it as much as a one of these aforementioned TLDs |

I've had good results with several different types of extensions. People will STILL click on your website if it appears relevant, whether it's a .biz, .info or .shminfo But if the .com's available...might as well get that! |

.com is great because it's the most recognizable one and people usually don't even think about the .net, .org, or .biz extension when the type in the domain name in the browser. If you plan on ever branding your site then the .com seems like a must but for SEO purposes I have gotten .net and .org sites to rank on first page for a couple keywords.

Definitely stick with com, net and org. The .com looks more professional. I have also heard that .biz can be a bit more difficult to rank. I would probably stay away from .biz and stick with com, net and org.

It only matters if you are marketing this site offline. Other than that, take whichever one is available. .com, .net, .org, .info, whatever. Makes no difference to the SE's, and I have yet to see proof that it makes any difference to anyone performing a search. |

Not for SEO, but people will always be more used to .com,.org,.net (in that order) .info has a bad rep. . .I just tend to stay away from .biz (no real reason)

When I was buying my first domain name I was chatting wtih a good friend. I was going to get a .net and he said "No, if I saw that .net or .org I would think it's spam." I don't think he's alone on that view, so I would say .com for better PR. SEO is obviously important, but beyond that is still someone's personal opinion!

Like others are saying I would not touch a .biz domain. Do not underestimate the value of an exact matching domain name in .com/.net/.org Depending on what type of site that you have, you might want to stick to .com. |

People who say to stay away from a .biz have no clue as to SEO. This is friggin' 2011. People know any extension now, from .tv to .travel. SEO by "feelings" is not SEO. And you don't think people can read and type what they see? Then your customers are friggin' illiterate. Paul |

I would definitely go for .com / .net / .org for the simple reason these 3 extensions people are most familiar with - so if you want people to remember you, best to go with one of those IMO.

Even though .com is the most popular, users are more likely to get to your website by clicking on a link. So it's important that you optimize your website for social media interaction as well as search engines.
