Your backlink methods

So how do you build your backlinks?

I tend to do the following:

Directory submission
Article submission
Social bookmarking

I used to email other webmasters until I was dinged for "spam". After that I stoped.

At the moment, I am currently doing Forum and Blog Commenting mainly.

However, I do some social bookmarking and article syndication each week also.

Whatever you do, mix it up.

Variation is the name of the game.
Along with consistency!

Getting diversity into your link portfolio.

Focus on high pr pages or home pages.
A few quality link will do more good than a
lot of poor links.
But ballance in all things so some lesser links are good for
the diversity I mentioned earlier.

Backlink regularly rater than en-mass or sporadically.
Keep a bunch of links going for good ol' Google to index

Couldn't agree more, you need a large variety of links, from a variety of sources,

Forum posting is OK but you're getting many links from 1 source
blog commenting is better as long as you're using a variety of blogs each time but you're getting links only form blogging platforms,
directory links are Ok too but there's only a finite number of these.
social media is good too but are you using the same sites to get links from again and again and again.

You really need to consistently mix it up.

i rarely do directory submissions - although im debating yahoo directory right now - any advice ?

directory submission is what im doing right now but im also blog commenting heavily.

blog commenting seems to be pretty easy and laid back method of backlinking for me.

Just a noob question, variation is the key on backlinks but you are all doing this manually or your using different tools to help you with and if yes what kind of programs?

I pretty much do everything.

Social Networks, Articles, Profiles, Diriectories, Bookmarking, Videos, No Follow Do Follow, blog comments etc. Just keep on building and try to find few sites inside your niche that will link to you. You need variety and quality.
