You pay much attention to onpage SEO stats on google top 10 on Market Samurai?

Searching some new kws , top 10 on google, (Market Samurai)

I notice a lot of sites in the top 10 have zero onpage SEO for that term
in that case, for the most part, the "competing page" that shows up in the top 10
is the root domain only, of that site

What that tells me is that Google cannot find sites with onpage SEO for this term. So it goes out and finds some aged sites with decent PR and lots of backlinks that have the kws sprinkled around the site and says HERE, here are some sites for that term

So my question is, if you are searching a kw term, and you see, almost all of the top 10 sites have ZERO onpage SEO, (no no no no) and the only page showing is their root domain, is it safe to assume that these sites can be easily outranked? within say a year ? with a .com variation of the kw, and perfect onpage SEO?

Or would you just go on to the next kw.
I notice this on so many kws I am beginning to think, hmmm maybe I should not be just passing all these by. The main reason I was thinking, oh no way can I beat these sites, is they all have 10s of thousands of backlinks. But those are to the ROOT domain. and that root domain is what shows as the page for the kw. So of course the root has tons and tons of backlinks.

But there is also ZERO onpage SEO, which tells me these sites Did Not, and Are Not actively targeting this term.

Thoughts?

It'll obviously be different for every individual keyword phrase, but yes you're on the right track. I like to just go manually check all those metrics/factors of the top 10 manually and decide whether or not I think I can do better than what they've got in place.

Thanks I think that most people would pull away if they see 20,000 backlinks on a site page, but now that I have changed my view, I might not just pass those by if

1. the main page showing is the root domain
2. The onpage SEO is, no, no, no , and NO

that combination of factors to me is a big green flag
I could be wrong

The only difference I would say now is I would not apply this same theory on urls where the keywords are in the domain

In other words if the above situation were true lets say my kwords targeted are
website tips

If the websites in the top 10 a lot of them were www.website-tips.com, (or some variation with the kws in the domain name)
then my theory above might not apply

however I think sites like this with the kws in the domain name would certainly have good ONPAGE SEO, or why waste their time, since obviously they Are targeting the kws
