How I got a brand new blog to the first page of Google in less than 30 days. I'm not going to tell you the niche or the name of the blog. The blog's url does not contain the keyword phrase that got to the top, which made things a little more difficult. First task was to get the blog indexed. I added the url using the keyword phrase to three of my other sites that are in similar niches. I also added the url and keyword to my sig line in a well trafficked forum, no not Warriors. It was indexed within 24 hours. It could have been sooner but I didn't check. Socially bookmarked the blog the first day and after every post. It gets two to three posts per week. I use a service that posts to a combination of SB sites and blogs. The blog is pinged after every post as well. The keyword phrase is used three times in every post. It doesn't look artificial because the phrase is what the blog is about. I wrote -- I'm a professional writer and know the topic well -- an article every day for 24 days I used a paid article distribution service. You could manually post the articles to the ezine directories yourself. The url and keyword is in the author bio box. I also went back to articles that are posted on a very well-known ezine directly and changed the link on some articles that were several years old to the new blog. The url and keyword phrase was added to an established web wheel of about 12 different blogs and sites. These have been up for at least a year. Yes, it took some effort and time, but it worked. Dee |

Was the niche pretty competitive?

Yes. It's not a make money or personal finance niche. But it's reasonably competitive. Dee |

Dee, Great work on this! Did you happen to write a Press Release and have it distributed for this new blog? ![]() Quote:

Awesome post Dee! Yes it is as simple (and hard!) as that. No tricks, no push button solutions just unique, fresh content and you will get ranked. The sad thing is that a lot of people will not keep on updating their blog or get sidetracked into trying to find an "easier" method. Well done Dee! All the best, Chris Jones |

No press release yet, but there's a reason I'm waiting. I posted this because I felt some warriors just starting out or struggling would like to know it can be done. The blog is not profit oriented but part of a marketing platform for a product that is totally unrelated to IM. As far as how many keywords it ranks for, right now just the one phrase. But that three-word phrase includes two words that are very competitive. My next project is to start ranking for those two words. Dee |

I prefer to look at the traffic from all sources rather than limiting it to keyword phrases. Yes, I know that's heresy in the IM world. Dee |

It depends on the competition. I had a blog, with exact domain name and there was very little competition on that keyword, and without any backlinks it manually got on the first page of Google.

Sounds like you did well. Congratulations. But I would be interested to know the search volume and competition numbers so this accomplishment could be evaluated better. If you are getting good traffic and earning a reasonable amount of money from this blog, then you did well. Keep it up and good luck. |

Tim: The traffic is slowly building. There is no profit motivation behind the blog. It doesn't sell anything, not even Adsense. I am the co-author of three books published by real publishing houses. One of the factors publishing houses look at when deciding to make an offer on a book proposal is does the author have a platform. It's also a factor in how big the advance is. We have gotten five-figure advances. A platform is simply how many people know about the author, consider her credible and will consider buying the book. The bigger the platform the better. The blog is part of a marketing platform. My intent was to share how I got to the first page of Google so others could do it too. Dee |

Good post, Dee. My fastest time to get indexed on Google was 2 hrs 45 mins from the time my blog was set up - no content. I think that choosing the right keywords, targeting only 2/3 main ones and looking at the competition really enhances your chances of getting onto page 1 of Google. For example, I did my keyword research, puchased my domain on 19th June 2011, set up my wordpress site with 15 pages of unique content ( Elance, great place!!) and my keywords were ranking between numbers 1 and 4 on Google 1st page by 21 July 2011. I used Seopressor to optimize each page and I created backlinks. So. like you said, Dee, it can be done. Regards, Jas |
