It takes my sites longer than that. Usually I will start building links and they will rank, then drop and finally settle in and start rising. The best thing you can do is to keep building links until the sites are where you want them. Of course this all depends on the keyword you are going after. If your site is going after a 1 or 2 word phrase you are probably in for a long ride. |

Keep link building. It takes persistence and more persistence! Nothing comes easy.

It's not just the number of backlinks, but the pr of the page they come from. One backlink from a pr4 page will do much much more for your site than a ton of pr0's. Although the sites on page one might have fewer links, they probably are getting them from higher pr pages.

Brand new site? Definitely. Need at least two months to really be sure something is wrong with a new site.

You need to give time and like previous members suggested need to create relevant backlinks for your site and then you will see the results.

Google seems to give added juice to established domains, so I would expect you'll need to wait more than a few months. Though I would say with those backlinks, it should be moving up pretty soon.

for which keyword you want to rank? (no need to answer, it is more of a rhetorical question) go after the long tail and try to rank internal pages for related keywords. You push your site up on the main keyword by "filling" it up with related keywords that rank. Unless you have a very targeted minisite... there the rules are a bit different, and I would look into internal SEO. Maybe a SEO expert can give you better advice. Sandra |

Two weeks is a very small amount of time Links can take 2-3 months to be effective I used to build many sites at a time, concentrating on one now with many pages works so much better, for me anyway |

I agree that seo is all about patience. And for higher ranking you should provide more quality content on your site and try to get quality backlinks from the high pr and quality sites. As per new algorithm for rank , it consider the quality content first.
